Appearance - Pours a deep, dark cordovan brown with a tan, finger width head. Fair retention results in a thin, ever-present layer of suds across the surface. Lacing is spotty, with good stick.

Smell - Predominant cocoa sweetness in the aroma. Light hints of coffee. Very mocha-like. Touches of raspberry that become more prevalent as the beer warms.

Taste - Follows the nose. Cocoa and milk chocolate sweetness to start. Raspberry comes through mid-taste, but as an underlying note. Mild bitterness that is but a footnote in the flavor profile. Aftertaste touches on a tad more raspberry, but is ultimately overshadowed by the sheer dominance of the chocolate.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Smooth. Somewhat silky. Goes down with ease.

Overall - Good. Worth the price? A resounding no! Their chocolate stout is somewhat similar, far superior IMO, and half the price. If raspberry/chocolate is an absolute must, try the New Belgium Frambozen which, to me, is a better beer and a significantly better value. I really don't know where the pretzel fits into this, because it eluded my palette. As their Voodoo line goes, Maple Bacon is the only one I'd ever consider buying again, lest the price is reduced drastically.

A: Pours a mahogany color with half an inch of quickly fading head that dies down to pretty much nothing

S: Chocolate and raspberry up front along with a bit of doughy breadiness. Some light coffee/mocha notes under that, but chocolate is definitely the front runner with the raspberry close behind

T: Starts off with the chocolate and raspberry, with some lightly roasted malts. A bit of coffee comes through with the light roast. Finishes with a bit of doughy maltiness and lingering chocolate + raspberry

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: Aside from having virtually no presence from the pretzels, this brew definitely lives up to the name. Not too sweet though, despite the chocolate and raspberry jelly-like flavors. Very easy to drink (it is only 5.4%, so that's not too surprising) but a bit on the pricey side. Worth a try if you're into chocolate, raspberry, or jelly donuts.

A - Very dark brown, thick creamy heady, similar to a porter/stout

S - Chocolate, raspberry, bread, can't really detect pretzel

T - really dominated by chocolate and raspberry, dark sugars, breadiness

M - creamy, medium bodied

O - very unique and original, strong taste of chocolate and raspberry, some breadiness but can't detect any pretzels which is disappointing. I think this is good beer but had a lot more potential than is delivered

Dark brown in color. Brown head that fades quickly. Strong chocolate aroma, some sweetness, and a little tart in the nose. Chocolate, then more chocolate, fades to some bready and fruity flavors. Low carbonation, smooth to drink. Overall a drinkable, maybe not a whole bottle, after dinner beer.
