650ml bomber poured into tulip 7/2/14
A slight haze in a golden orange body, heaps of pinprick bubbles moving around some fine sediment, two fingers of foam had decent retention leaving some polka dot lace
S tangerine and grapefruit rind, almost has a orange dish soap thing going on but its better then it sounds, spruce, caramel, and some Flintstones vitamins
T earthy herbal notes, some lime rind and more spruce with some pine resin added to the mix, rinds a little heavy I think I prefer the nose
M medium bodied, a little gritty, just on the creamy side of foam, slick after the fact with lingering rind, no booze on the way down
O an IPA and a half perhaps, decent and drinkable enough to please
perhaps not my favorite beer from Rouge but she goes down easy enough for 8% and its worth a try if nearby

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very lightly hazed orange amber color with a small head of just of white foam. The head has only a light level of retention, fading rather quickly to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is on the lighter side overall with it consisting mainly of a sweeter fruit nature of tropical fruits and melon mixed with some aromas of grapefruit and a doughty like smell. Mixed with these aromas are some other very light smells of a grassy and hay-like smell.
Taste – The taste begins a nice smooth bready flavor with tons of tropical fruit flavors of tangerine, pineapple, mango and papaya. Along with these flavors are some lighter hints of caramel as well as a rather nice showing of a grapefruit hop flavor. The sweeter tropical fruit flavors, as well as the grapefruit create a strong base flavor for the brew, lasting throughout the taste, with both just increasing a little bit as the taste advances to the end. The bready and caramel flavors fade as the taste advances however, allowing the grapefruit and fruit to show themselves a bit more as the taste moves to the end. With all these transitions that take place during the taste profile, there is also a coming of a lighter earthy and grassy hop flavor, which in the end, when combined with the fruity and grapefruit hop flavors, leaves a very pleasantly sweet and hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The lower carbonation level really accentuates the tropical fruit and grapefruit hop flavors really allowing their melody to shine through. This melody was only accentuated by the thicker feel of the brew, which made for one mouth coating experience.
Overall – A rather tasty IPA overall. A bit on the sweeter side, but very easy drinking and highly enjoyable. This is on to try if you see it on tap.

A: This poured a hazy dark gold with moderate white head.
S: It smelled like candied apricots and citrus zest, with some light honey biscuit and melon.
T: It tasted like rusty copper and resin, with some citrus zest and a little honey biscuit. It had a dirty bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Fairly light body.
D: This wasn't a great IPA. The scent and taste were bitter but dirty and not very juicy. The body was a little weak, and the finish was harsh. So it wasn't easy to drink either. Unimpressive brew all around.
