Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a hazy copper amber with a one finger ivory head with great retention and lacing. Nice aroma of caramel malt, apples, slightly vinous. Flavor is caramel malt with a slight biscuit component, toffee, slightly buttery and earthy, a hint of hops in the finish. Medium bodied with some creaminess. Pretty much what I expect in a maibock, lots of caramel malt and flavor, this one a bit darker in color than normal, but otherwise a good domestic take on the style. The light buttery flavor seems integrated into the caramel, like a freshly made caramel candy. Alcohol dangerously well covered. It's a hot day and I could chug this bottle easily with dire consequences. But I'll pace myself and enjoy the maltiness. I like this and it's a great cause. Weird looking bottle, though.
