Presentation: Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into an Imperial pint glass. This was part of a birthday gift I received from people with whom I work, knowing I am a beer geek.
Appearance: Pours with 3 fingers of medium tan head. This settles slowly to a 1 finger cap, leaving behind not only tons of sticky lacing, but puffy, uneven mountains of foam. The beer itself is red/copper and has a slight chill haze. No sediment in the bottle.
Smell: Caramel malt, though not too sweet, with bittering hops and a slight metallic twang.
Taste: Mild hop bitterness up front with a hint of floral lightness. Solid malt backbone; bready and slight notes of caramel, not sweet. Finishes with a medium hop bitterness that lingers well after each sip.
Mouthfeel: Average carbonation level. Body is good.
Drinkability: A nice flavorful beer that goes down easy. Malty enough to interest me and enough hops to balance things out.
Serving type: bottle
