3.71/5 rDev -3.6%
Large bottle shared at the Wrecking Bar.
Hazy brown-amber with a very good head.
Mildly bitter aftertaste but sweet up front
Well hidden ABV.
Medium and sweet malts mix with a generous load of bittering hops, some fruity notes, and a subtle wood.
Medium-full body with good, medium carbonation.
Barrel effects most obvious in the lingering aftertaste.

Had on-tap @ Rogue Pub in Portland, OR
Appearance - Served up in a goblet with a semi-hazy, reddish copper color and a broken layer of suds on the surface. Leaves small spots of lace with little stick.
Smell - Deep caramel notes with fair euro hop earthiness. Light oaky woodiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Deep caramel character backed by some moderate oakiness. Faint earthy hoppiness. Smooth caramel finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium body with low carbonation. Exceptional smoothness, going down with stupid ease, as though it were a 5% brew.
Overall - Nice, smooth Scotch ale. Missing that hint of smokiness that, to me, makes a scotch ale really kick. If it had that, it'd be just about perfect. As is, delicious. Get it on tap if you can; the $17 price tag for the bottle isn't quite worth it.
