look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4
Appearance: slightly translucent dark brown, robust off white head quicly recedes, leaves minimal lace.
Nose: caramelly sweet malts, toffee, strawberry esters, hazelnut (liquor), faint brandy
Taste: Smooth, toffee and caramel up front, a tiny whisp of smoke. The hazelnut flavor emerges and is much more subtle, and complimentary than I remember their Morimoto Hazelnut being (Ill be a monkeys uncle if these are the same beers). Faint hints of cappuccino, milk chocolate. Perfectly off-setting earthy hop bitterness, Im impressed!
Mouthfeel: Medium soft carbonation combined with the body lends a slick, yet velvety feel.
Drinkability: Highly drinkable. Not cloying, the hazelnut extract flavors melds nicely with the natural beer flavors. Id definitely have another if there was one around.
Serving type: bottle
