Hard to believe that we got this beer here in Bishop! As noted by others, this seems very similar to the Hazelnut Brown.

First pour shows a darker than expected amber tinted brown ale with a creamy tan head. Aroma is malty with a noticable nuttiness and the tiniest hints of citrus/spice and coffee.

Initial taste is sweet, soft and malty. The sweetness quickly resolves into noticable hazelnut flavours while the softness gives way to chocolate covered fruit notes. While the beer is undeniably sweet, there is a nice bite that builds throughout the flavour to eventually dominate the finish. Even there, however, the flavours are balanced - with some toasted oak and fruit to liven the palette.

It's no shock that a speciality beer branded for a Sushi chef would taste good with fish - but I have to admit I was surprised at how well a Hazelnut beer worked with fish. This is a good example of the style and a pleasant while perhaps not extraordinary in any way beer.

12 oz bottle was poured into a shaker glass at Parish Cafe on Boylston.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger whitish brown head that reduced to a thin layer. It is an amber brown color with some vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Toasted malts, roasted, hazelnut, a little chocolate, and some sweetness.

Taste: Hazelnut, toasted, chocolate, some sweetness, mild bitterness, and earthy notes..

Mouthfeel: Smooth, a little chewy, light to medium bodied, low to medium carbonation, and slight bitterness.

Overall: Awesome brown ale. Will be enjoying this one again in the near future.

Appearance is a clear dark brown with a two if her light brown head.
Aroma is caramel, nutty, pecan pie, toffee
Taste follows the nose but in a lighter, watered down way.
Nice malt balance but great rich nutty flavors come through.
Mouthfeel is pretty carbonated and medium to thin.
Overall it's probably my favorite rogue beer and is drink it again.

A personal favorite of mine. The appearance is a dark brown with a very thick head. The smell is great with sweet notes from the malt paired with the earthy tones from the hazelnuts. The taste is great, with such a delicious combination of sweetness and heavy nuttiness. It works well as both a desert beer as well as something to drink with spicy food. The mouthfeel is just the right thickness for me, has a big body but is not syrupy. Love this one.
