Pretty good looking brown. The bomber was poured into my mug and had a nice two finger pale tan head, which had pretty good retention. It is mildly carbonated, and almost brown in colour, with deep reddish highlights.
Creamy hazelnuts and whole grain crusty bread greet the nose, along with a hint of pear and some woodsy and mildly floral hops.
Taste is much like the aroma, although its toasty and nutty edge also hints at walnuts. There is also a sweeter edge to this brew, somewhere between toffee and treacle.
A nice medium bodied brew with a creamy feel. Nice contrasts present, with the nutty malts, some sweetness yet some astringency, as well as the mildly woody hop bitterness.
This is pretty drinkable, and at 6.2% almost sessionable. Well worth a try for fans of brown ales. It would be fun to try this against Fat Squirrel from NG. Glad to have had a chance to try this, it is certainly something that i will look forward to revisiting.
