No date on the bottle, but I know it's at least 6 months old.
Pours a deep chocolate brown; light behind it brings out a reddish hue. One-finger light tan head, good retention and lacing.
Smell is, as billed, nutty and malty, with a shot of butterscotch. I like brown ales with a nutty presence, and I'm really happy with this one. Hazelnut smell is quite potent, and mostly the odor of shells. It's sweet and woody, and blends really well with the sweetness and dark fruits of the malts.
Taste is quite good, but it's a little less integrated than the smell. There are two flavor peaks, one from the hazelnut, and one from the malts. The hazelnut comes through a little funny, more like the flavored syrup than the nut itself. Maybe that's the sweetness talking.
Mouthfeel is excellent - medium-bodied, smooth and slick, carbonation is spot-on. Finish is long, sweet, and delicious.
This beer is really good, and one of the better brown ales I've had. Great malt base, sweet and with nice dark fruit presence. The hazelnut works really well with the rest of the beer. Delicious.

Heard great things about this beer so decided to give it a shot. Here goes:
A: OK, not good or bad. Beer pours an opaque brown; no light gets through. Very little head and moderate lacing.
S: Wow, simply outstanding. Can detect nutmeg, nutella, hazelnut, peanut butter and chocolate. Very little hops, however; this is a pure malt brew.
T: Taste follows the nose. Again, it's outstanding. Lots of nutella, hazelnut, peanut butter, chocolate, etc. The beer is a pure malt brew; I can't really detect any hops.
M: Very good but nothing special. Somewhat creamy but not very much so.
O: An excellent brown ale. Lots of nuts and chocolate. Would highly recommend it.
