Purchased bomber from Shoppette on Kadena, Okinawa, Japan.

P - The beer is poured furiously which creates two fingers of head that wilt into nothing leaving the beer completely unprotected from my mouth.
S - Brown sugar and mild amber malts off the nose.
T - Taste is slightly sweet, again brown sugar, then a hint of bitter bark. The hazelnut nectar addition does lend influence to both the nose and the palate and is noticeable throughout the beer.
B - Medium bodied, mild small bubble carbonation and a lingering hazelnut like after taste.

Overall a nice ABA, fits the style in a delicious manner. I could see this in a pitcher for my friends while bowling or playing pool. Very easy to drink, quaffable and mild.

An imperial Xmas version of this would be rocking. Some spices and higher abv... Rogue are you listening? (832 characters)

Had this beer on tap at the Yardhouse last night.Very light and easy to drink with a strong nutty taste to it.It had a fruit taste to it although it`s hard to identify what it is.I have to say I like it very much.I have had a couple of Rogue beers with mixed luck but I would say this is Second best to the Chocolate Stout. At 6.2ABV I would say its a Semi-functional beer.Give it a try. (386 characters)

This is a pretty tasty brew—sweet, but with a very mild hop character appropriate for a brown. That said, I feel like I could probably grab any decent brown, add a little hazelnut extract (which, as they state on the bottle, is how they get the hazelnut flavor) and end up with basically exactly this. (303 characters)

A: [2.75] No head formation. The color is a dark brown - like root beer - with a slight reddish cast. The bottle does not indicate ABV or IBU. There is some born on code on the bottom - but I am not sure what it means.

S: [4.00] Toffee, brown sugar some coffee.Slight hint of hard apple cider. The overall smell is pleasant.

T: [3.75] Caramel and toffee. The caramel that is on caramel apples. Biscuity breadiness.

M: [4.00] It is much creamier and "thick" than I anticipated. I thought it would be thin and watery. It has a nice body to the beer. Carbonation is totally in check.

O: [3.75] There is no sense of alcohol (I would guess ~5.5% ABV). This is a sweet and mellow bodied beer. It has a unique flavor profile. The flavor is robust and caramelized. I really liked it. (794 characters)

Nice smooth beer. Tastes well...refreshing. I would feel pretty good about giving this to my friends at a party. It's not the best beer but will holds its ground. (166 characters)

Poured from a 22 ounce Bomber, light brownish caramel color. The head was very thin and vanished quickly. The aroma was very light, hinting at hops and nuts.
This is a mild tasting beer, clean with a nutty finish.
I will have this again. (239 characters)

Clear mahogany pour with a one finger beige head with decent retention and nice lacing. The nose is earthy and nutty with hints of caramel, brown sugar, hazelnut, and subtle cocoa. The taste is toasty and nutty with hints of brown sugar, caramel, hazelnut, coffee, burnt toast, vanilla, tea, and subtle cocoa. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly elevated carbonation, but a bit thin for the style. Overall, flavorful and very drinkable and worth revisiting. (472 characters)

Haven't had this one in over five years so it's as good a time as any to return. Beer pours a dark color with a thin fizzy tan head. Nice nutty aroma, with hints of coffee. Sweet flavor on the palette but not too sweet, nutty caramel and toffee flavors. Smooth and unobtrusive mouth feel. An outstanding beer in an under appreciated style, would definitely recommend anytime, but especially as a lighter desert style beer. (422 characters)

Heard great things about this beer so decided to give it a shot. Here goes:

A: OK, not good or bad. Beer pours an opaque brown; no light gets through. Very little head and moderate lacing.

S: Wow, simply outstanding. Can detect nutmeg, nutella, hazelnut, peanut butter and chocolate. Very little hops, however; this is a pure malt brew.

T: Taste follows the nose. Again, it's outstanding. Lots of nutella, hazelnut, peanut butter, chocolate, etc. The beer is a pure malt brew; I can't really detect any hops.

M: Very good but nothing special. Somewhat creamy but not very much so.

O: An excellent brown ale. Lots of nuts and chocolate. Would highly recommend it. (667 characters)

12 oz bottle was poured into a shaker glass at Parish Cafe on Boylston.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger whitish brown head that reduced to a thin layer. It is an amber brown color with some vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Toasted malts, roasted, hazelnut, a little chocolate, and some sweetness.

Taste: Hazelnut, toasted, chocolate, some sweetness, mild bitterness, and earthy notes..

Mouthfeel: Smooth, a little chewy, light to medium bodied, low to medium carbonation, and slight bitterness.

Overall: Awesome brown ale. Will be enjoying this one again in the near future. (667 characters)

Appearance is a clear dark brown with a two if her light brown head.
Aroma is caramel, nutty, pecan pie, toffee
Taste follows the nose but in a lighter, watered down way.
Nice malt balance but great rich nutty flavors come through.
Mouthfeel is pretty carbonated and medium to thin.
Overall it's probably my favorite rogue beer and is drink it again. (350 characters)

A personal favorite of mine. The appearance is a dark brown with a very thick head. The smell is great with sweet notes from the malt paired with the earthy tones from the hazelnuts. The taste is great, with such a delicious combination of sweetness and heavy nuttiness. It works well as both a desert beer as well as something to drink with spicy food. The mouthfeel is just the right thickness for me, has a big body but is not syrupy. Love this one. (452 characters)

Pours a dark brown color with a one finger tan head and great lacing. Aroma is hazelnut and chocolate. Taste is a basically the same as the aroma. Great mouthfeel. This beer is a little on the sweet side, but overall, I really enjoyed this beer and will definitely buy again . (276 characters)

Appearance- Amber brown with barely a finger of head.

Aroma-Sweet chocolate, nutty, and coffee scents.

Taste- The hazelnut is the dominant feature, but that isn't a bad thing by any means. The hazelnut is accompanied by some milk chocolate, coffee, and honey.

Feel-Very malty which leads to a somewhat sticky feel, but nothing that lingers. Full bodied beer with little carbonation.

Overall-Very good beer thats perfect for those with a sweet tooth when it comes to beers. Personally this is too sweet for me to frequently have, but it certainly will be a top choice for a dessert beer in the future. (606 characters)

Bottle bought from the local supermarket

Had high hopes for this as really enjoyed the chocolate stout

As soon as I popped it had a bit of froth rising wanting to get out

Medium brown/sight tinge of red with a finger of head that settles quite quickly

Smells.. this is where the disappointment started for me. No real hazlenut notes here. Vaguely remember a homebrew kit that smelt very close to this. Nothing spacial.

Taste.. much the same. Getting a slight hazelnut taste here and a good finish. Quite abrupt.

Not a bad drop but expected more from a rogue beer after tasting their chocolate stout. Will definitely be buying more of their beers just not this one. (670 characters)

If you like hazelnut coffe, or happen to like hazelnuts in general, this is your beer. It has a very clean looking appearance, medium brown color with a sweet and flavorful head. It is very nutty, the hazelnut flavor doesn't start or finish the beer, it is the beer. A very sweet beer, if that 's not your thing look elsewhere. Not bitter at any point, smooth, nutty & sweet throughout. This is an amazing beer, could have one with your oatmeal or your pork chops. Delicious. (475 characters)

Dark amber in appearance with a short lived head. Nose of cooked sugar, RC Cola, dark fruit like figs and dates. Nutty flavors apparent, with roasted character and caramel notes up front. Hop flavor is muted and mild with a very clean bitterness showing up at the end. Thin bodied and mildly carbonated. (303 characters)

Nice chestnut brown
Cookie like smell with vanilla and sweet aromas
tastes almost sweet, hints of cookie dough, definite nut like aroma and note, very smooth and drinkable stands by itself
smooth mouthfeel with a late happiness at the finish

I wish it were on tap more in the Atlanta area…I think the tap develops the aromas and tastes a bit more, but this one holds up well in the bomber or six pack

I swear to God I like Christmas cookies with this better than egg nog (474 characters)

Picked this one up at Brewery Creek Liquor Store for $9.15 plus deposit.

A: Lovely clear chestnut colour.

S: Toasted malts, hazelnut, cocoa.

T: Slightly nutty but not as much as I'd expected, with some cocoa and coffee flavours.

F: A bit thinner than I expected, but not overly so. A bit of heat from the alcohol.

O: A nice brown ale, but perhaps not worth the trouble of seeking it out at a specialty store. (415 characters)

I poured a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance- Clear brown color with a fingers worth of light tan head. Fair amount of lacing.

Smell- Lightly roasted malt and hazelnut aromas with a hint of cocoa.

Taste- Hazelnut and toasted bread flavor with hints of cocoa and brown sugar.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with an above average amount of carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

Overall- A good beer that I thoroughly enjoyed from the first swallow. (442 characters)

An excellent beer that got better once warmed up and it's full flavour was shown.

Aroma: chocolate (similar as in an amber ale) with hazelnut

Taste: Chocolate, hazelnut, spice, with some slight melon and a bit of bitterness in the aftertaste

Alcohol content is masked fairly well and appearance is excellent

Overall - A brilliant beer full of chocolate/hazelnut goodness - pure deliciousness! (397 characters)

Pours a nice brown with a thick head. I for the life of me can't detect any hazelnut smell at all. Although the taste is good for a brown ale I can't detect any hazelnut taste or flavor at all. Although it's highly rated here I'm not sure why. The big letdown for me is the lack of any hazelnut. (295 characters)

Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar has a very thick, cream-colored head, a pretty dark, obscured, brown appearance, and decent lacing left behind. The aroma is of medium-roasted barley malt, sweetness, and hazelnut. Taste is the same, with a tea note and low bitterness (I’d never guess 33 IBU). Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar finishes dry, easy going, and nice.

12oz bottle into my FW Imperial Nonic
Notes from 03/06/14

A: Dark chestnut brown body with some garnet tones and a nicely conditioned look. Condensed whip of oatmeal colored cream on top with ample stay power. A few slippery dots and ribbons of lace left clinging to the glass.

S: Scented toasted biscuit with hazelnut and cocoa notes. There is some brown sugar sweetness to the aroma and a bit of honey coated cereals mixed in. Smells nice and inviting. Not artificial like or too overpowered by the hazelnut additions.

T: Melba toast, brown sugar, and a mild hazelnut flavoring. I get toasted grains and some nice nutty nuances of chocolate and coffee. There is a moderately low bitterness to the beer and a touch of earthiness coming through. Well balanced with a light dry crisp nature. Alcohol is completely masked making for a nice session. A tasty little brown ale.

M: Body is moderate full and mostly creamy with a light drying at the finish. A touch watered down in the end but with a clean very retreat.

D: A nice and toasty brown with good balance and some subtle flavor additions. I particularly appreciate the restrained approach here. This may in fact be one of Rogue’s better offerings. (1,211 characters)

Poured from 22 into pint

Nice mocha head

Sweet hazelnut. Coffee, chocolate and sweet-n-low.

Harsh sweet cheap coffee creamer, overwhelming hazelnut, really young tast

Not bad considering the flavor sim getting, somewhat creamy and coats the palate well.

Not the best beer I've had from Rogue, some folk seem to really dig this beer too sweet imo (351 characters)
