Pours browny amber with good head and great lacing.

Smell has sweet brown ale malt, lots of hazelnut flavour. Pretty nice and unsurprisingly the nutty brown ale notes integrate well with nutty notes of, well...hazelnut.

Taste carries through. Not quite as potent but similarly well poised balanced between the two types of nut flavour. A slight spearmint/menthol note on the swallow.

Mouthfeel is decent - the gaps in flavour in the previous Rogue beer I had are readily filled with hazelnut flavour in this one.

Great beer. Better executed than Frangelic Mountain Brown (which I also enjoyed).

Very well integrated hazelnut flavour, somehow it doesn't seem artificial or syrupy at all. Nice and fairly dry beer actually. No artifical sweetness.

I do find it funny how really the only enjoyable brown ales are ones with adjuncts. Perhaps brewers will catch on someday.

Anyhow, great beer and deservedly regarded as a classic.

A slightly reddish-tinged brown in color. An off-white three-finger, rocky head shows good retention and leaves some scattered streaks of lacing. Hazelnut is prominent on the nose. Slightly sweet, buttery, and nutty aroma. Slight floral hop note.

Nice interplay of hazelnut, caramel malt, and bitterness. The hazelnut flavor is out front without being overly dominant. The bitterness could be toned down a bit as it slightly overshadows the malt body. Mouthfeel is quite nice with a soft, sudsy carbonation.

Hazelnut Brown Nectar nicely melds hazelnut and brown ale flavors. It's a bit pricey for a bomber, but once you crack it open, it's hard to stop drinking until the bottle's empty.

Poured from a bomber into a Sam Adams perfect pint.

A: Pours a clear amber brown with a fluffy cream head.

S: Digging the extremely(!) nutty nose but a little nervous how it will taste in the context of a beer. It's nutty, like REALLY nutty.

T: Really, really strong hazelnut "nectar" taste. Like drinking pressed hazelnut juice with a bit of malt backbone and a slightly bitter hop finish. Really not sitting well on the palate.

M: Mouthfeel is a somewhat thin, thinner than I;d expect for a beer like this.

O: Overall the beer smelled good before tasting but after tasting the cloying hazelnut flavor became overbearing about four sips in. By 1/3 of the way through I found the unrelenting concentrated nut flavor to be somewhat nauseating. Sink poured the rest. Was expecting a lot more given the hype. Really seemed to lack subtlety in favor of "HEY WE PUT NUTS IN THIS BEER!" Would consider giving it another go but not anytime soon and not over $7 a bomber...
