A - Cloudy red-brown with a one finger off white head. Head disappeared to absolutely ZERO by the time I was near the end of my mug, with no lacing to speak of.

S - Musty, earthy, and a good amount of the hazelnut promised in the title.

T - Intial taste is an earthy malt, followed by a big blast of hazelnut. Very strange hop character comes through right at the end. I expected this to have more intense and complex flavors for a brown, with more roasted/toasted notes. It just wasnt there. Disappointing. Lastly, I dont feel the hazelnut taste worked well with the hops and other components.

M - Severly undercarbonated. Just kind of sits in your mouth, leaving a syrupy feel when swallowed.

O - I love brown ales, and was eager to try this, but overall I would have to say this is a misfire from Rogue. Lack of carbonation, off flavor combinations, and too much hazelnut (and not much else) left me scratching my head. I wont be buying this again. Give me a Breckenridge Mighty Brown or a DFH Indian Brown Ale anyday.

Appearance: Crystal brown with yeastiness apparent. Good foam, great lacing. Very unique color.

Smell: Brown sugar and roasted hazelnuts. Subdued but refreshing. Very dessert-like.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Excellent! Finaly a nut brown that I really enjoy. Burnt toffee sugar, molasses, and roasted hazelnuts. I worried the hazelnuts would overpower, but that is not the case at all. Nice clean finish for this style that. This works to whet your whistle, but still refreshes with satisfaction.

Drinkability: Great for any occasion.

Overall: A knockout.

A - Poured into a Duvel tulip, pours a nice murky brown color, with about a finger's worth of foamy-looking head that dissipated quickly, leaving some spotty lacing.

S - Nutty, malty and s trong caramel notes.

T - Good hazelnut flavor, but also has a strong chocolate flavor. Bready and sweet malts near the end.

M - Creamy, with mild carbonation. Nice and full-bodied.

O - A pretty decent brew. Not really what I'd go for normally, but as of yet, I haven't drank a Rogue beer that I haven't liked. It's worth a junior-college try.

A: Pours a deep copper/amber color with a half finger of beige head on top. It quickly reduced to a thin ring around the top. Minimal lacing.

S: Lots of roasted nuts, hazelnut, caramel, and a little bit of maple even.

T: Lots of hazelnut flavor, some caramel and maple again. On the sweeter side, very light hop bite as well.

M: Medium bodied, on the creamier side for a brown, nice level of carbonation.

O: Really nice, the hazelnut flavor really does a good job in the brown ale. A nice easy drinking beer, if it was in 12oz bottles would pick it up more regularly.
