Appearance is a clear, inviting brown with good lacing as you go.

Aroma is quite impressive; nothing short of hazelnut, roasty malt, and the smallest tad of hop in the background.

Taste is a smooth, balanced brown - somewhat mild, overall, for rogue - but thankfully they tame this down so you can really taste the hazelnut; there is no missing or mistaking it. Personally, I'm not a big hazelnut guy, but I must admit I'm impressed that they pin down the flavor and meld it so well with the brown ale overall.

The beer sits light on your tongue, not heavy or overbearing by any stretch. Overall quite a pleasant experience; one of the better examples of a flavored beer, for sure. If you're a brown ale type, and have a thing for hazelut in other beverage arenas, you can't pass this one up.

Served on tap in a pint glass.

A- Great looking beer! Dark amber to reddish. Not much head but it may be due to the tap pressure settings.

S- Sweet and a hinch of fruitiness followed by a bit of wood but not a big smell.

F- Berries on the beginning, followed by a perfectly achieved nutty flavor. At the end a pleasant cocoa aftertaste very similar to the Yoo-Hoo! drink.

O- Very nice beer! Certainly I will have it again.

This one is pretty strange. At first pour it looks amazing; deep reddish amber, small head, tight bubbles, great carbonation. Nose gets a little weird; biscuity, malty, and hazelnut... which doesn't seem to quite fit. Taste is very malty, syrupy sweet with hazelnut overtones. Sweetness lingers. Overall a nice effort, pretty much as expected.

22 oz bomber poured into an imperial pint glass.

Appearance – Nice opaque dark brown color. Looks warm, like it has some substance.
Smell – Nutty, fruity, interesting aroma. Some milk chocolate, caramel, bit of earthy hops. The hazelnut adds an interesting aspect to the standard malty brown ale aroma.
Taste – Chocolate maltiness, but not too roasty. Definite nuttiness, biscuit, bready with a bit of leafy hops buried underneath.
Mouthfeel – Smooth but dry and a bit light on the palate. The aroma hints to a much fuller brew, but this one is not too heavy on the palate.
Overall - Really a solid brew from Rogue. I can see why this one is so highly rated. Very interesting aroma and flavors going on with high drinkability add up to a great option in the brown ale arena.

Poured section of Brown Nectar bomber into a pint glass:

A: Pours a splendid dark, reddish-brown with excellent density. Light patches through the sides at odd angles, revealing medium carbonation. A massive, billowy head foams up about 3 fingers thick. The retention is superb. No lacing noted until the very end.

S: Smells delicious. Deep caramel, hazelnut, roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Like butter and syrup. A rich and inviting smell that beckons a taste.

T: Robust, tangy, and boozy. Good mixture of caramel and roasted malts. Coffee and chocolate notes play in the end. The taste wasn't entirely what I was expecting after the smell, but it's still pleasant.

M: Surprisingly light, with a touch of carbonation. The flavor travels well. It's a bit oily, but finishes medium-dry and on a bitter note.

O: Quite impressive. Brown ales aren't generally my "go-to" beer, but I'll most definitely be tracking this one down in the near future. Outstanding.

Poured into a snifter

Appearance: cola brown with copper hues. Tan, half finger head that quickly leaves. Very little lacing

Smell: Malt, nuts, woody

Taste: A malty, complex taste. Caramel and bread greet the tongue while those hazelnuts roll up in a nice rush of flavoring. A dry, wooden, smoky finish. Yum!

Mouthfeel: medium; low carbonation; creamy goodness

Overall: smooth, robust, a "sitting by the fire" sipper. I've never had a taste like this before. The hazelnut really makes it pop . I see why it's so recommended. Would love to try on tap.

A - Pours a hazy brown/garnet body with a tan head that forms a solid collar of bubbles.

S - Honey, bran cereal, caramel, graham crackers, bready malt, brown bread.

T - Brown bread crust, honey kissed cereal grains, sweet rice, roasted cane sugar, soft hazelnut and bits of light toffee, minor hop bitterness.

M - Smooth, creamy, medium bodied.

Very focused flavors here. Delicate yet refined. Good texture and very enjoyable on any occasion.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber into a pint glass.

A - Dark Brown with reddish hues. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Thin tan head that recedes quickly.

S - Very malty. Hazelnut and Caramel. Tinge of fruits. Very appetizing.

T - Roasted malts up front. Very sweet. Hazelnut and Caramel. Hops add a good bit of zest to the end.

M - Light to medium with a bit of carbonation.

This is a very exceptional brown ale. Very well done.
