Pours a dark brown color with a one finger tan head and great lacing. Aroma is hazelnut and chocolate. Taste is a basically the same as the aroma. Great mouthfeel. This beer is a little on the sweet side, but overall, I really enjoyed this beer and will definitely buy again .

Appearance- Amber brown with barely a finger of head.

Aroma-Sweet chocolate, nutty, and coffee scents.

Taste- The hazelnut is the dominant feature, but that isn't a bad thing by any means. The hazelnut is accompanied by some milk chocolate, coffee, and honey.

Feel-Very malty which leads to a somewhat sticky feel, but nothing that lingers. Full bodied beer with little carbonation.

Overall-Very good beer thats perfect for those with a sweet tooth when it comes to beers. Personally this is too sweet for me to frequently have, but it certainly will be a top choice for a dessert beer in the future.

Bottle bought from the local supermarket

Had high hopes for this as really enjoyed the chocolate stout

As soon as I popped it had a bit of froth rising wanting to get out

Medium brown/sight tinge of red with a finger of head that settles quite quickly

Smells.. this is where the disappointment started for me. No real hazlenut notes here. Vaguely remember a homebrew kit that smelt very close to this. Nothing spacial.

Taste.. much the same. Getting a slight hazelnut taste here and a good finish. Quite abrupt.

Not a bad drop but expected more from a rogue beer after tasting their chocolate stout. Will definitely be buying more of their beers just not this one.

If you like hazelnut coffe, or happen to like hazelnuts in general, this is your beer. It has a very clean looking appearance, medium brown color with a sweet and flavorful head. It is very nutty, the hazelnut flavor doesn't start or finish the beer, it is the beer. A very sweet beer, if that 's not your thing look elsewhere. Not bitter at any point, smooth, nutty & sweet throughout. This is an amazing beer, could have one with your oatmeal or your pork chops. Delicious.

Dark amber in appearance with a short lived head. Nose of cooked sugar, RC Cola, dark fruit like figs and dates. Nutty flavors apparent, with roasted character and caramel notes up front. Hop flavor is muted and mild with a very clean bitterness showing up at the end. Thin bodied and mildly carbonated.

Nice chestnut brown
Cookie like smell with vanilla and sweet aromas
tastes almost sweet, hints of cookie dough, definite nut like aroma and note, very smooth and drinkable stands by itself
smooth mouthfeel with a late happiness at the finish

I wish it were on tap more in the Atlanta area…I think the tap develops the aromas and tastes a bit more, but this one holds up well in the bomber or six pack

I swear to God I like Christmas cookies with this better than egg nog

Picked this one up at Brewery Creek Liquor Store for $9.15 plus deposit.

A: Lovely clear chestnut colour.

S: Toasted malts, hazelnut, cocoa.

T: Slightly nutty but not as much as I'd expected, with some cocoa and coffee flavours.

F: A bit thinner than I expected, but not overly so. A bit of heat from the alcohol.

O: A nice brown ale, but perhaps not worth the trouble of seeking it out at a specialty store.

I poured a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance- Clear brown color with a fingers worth of light tan head. Fair amount of lacing.

Smell- Lightly roasted malt and hazelnut aromas with a hint of cocoa.

Taste- Hazelnut and toasted bread flavor with hints of cocoa and brown sugar.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with an above average amount of carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

Overall- A good beer that I thoroughly enjoyed from the first swallow.

An excellent beer that got better once warmed up and it's full flavour was shown.

Aroma: chocolate (similar as in an amber ale) with hazelnut

Taste: Chocolate, hazelnut, spice, with some slight melon and a bit of bitterness in the aftertaste

Alcohol content is masked fairly well and appearance is excellent

Overall - A brilliant beer full of chocolate/hazelnut goodness - pure deliciousness!

Pours a nice brown with a thick head. I for the life of me can't detect any hazelnut smell at all. Although the taste is good for a brown ale I can't detect any hazelnut taste or flavor at all. Although it's highly rated here I'm not sure why. The big letdown for me is the lack of any hazelnut.

Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar has a very thick, cream-colored head, a pretty dark, obscured, brown appearance, and decent lacing left behind. The aroma is of medium-roasted barley malt, sweetness, and hazelnut. Taste is the same, with a tea note and low bitterness (I’d never guess 33 IBU). Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar finishes dry, easy going, and nice.

12oz bottle into my FW Imperial Nonic
Notes from 03/06/14

A: Dark chestnut brown body with some garnet tones and a nicely conditioned look. Condensed whip of oatmeal colored cream on top with ample stay power. A few slippery dots and ribbons of lace left clinging to the glass.

S: Scented toasted biscuit with hazelnut and cocoa notes. There is some brown sugar sweetness to the aroma and a bit of honey coated cereals mixed in. Smells nice and inviting. Not artificial like or too overpowered by the hazelnut additions.

T: Melba toast, brown sugar, and a mild hazelnut flavoring. I get toasted grains and some nice nutty nuances of chocolate and coffee. There is a moderately low bitterness to the beer and a touch of earthiness coming through. Well balanced with a light dry crisp nature. Alcohol is completely masked making for a nice session. A tasty little brown ale.

M: Body is moderate full and mostly creamy with a light drying at the finish. A touch watered down in the end but with a clean very retreat.

D: A nice and toasty brown with good balance and some subtle flavor additions. I particularly appreciate the restrained approach here. This may in fact be one of Rogue’s better offerings.

Poured from 22 into pint

Nice mocha head

Sweet hazelnut. Coffee, chocolate and sweet-n-low.

Harsh sweet cheap coffee creamer, overwhelming hazelnut, really young tast

Not bad considering the flavor sim getting, somewhat creamy and coats the palate well.

Not the best beer I've had from Rogue, some folk seem to really dig this beer too sweet imo

Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Smells of Hazelnut, malt, hop, and light cocoa. tasting the beer the first thing that strikes me is the hazelnut and malt. It finishes with a hop and malt taste with a good mouth feel. A really good brown ale and I would buy again.

Probably my second favorite brown ale. The hazelnut favor is very prominent both in the smell and on the pallet. It might be a little on the sweet side for some people, but it's a great brown. A nice honey flavor can also be detected. As always let it warm up a little from ice cold and it'll really blossom in flavor and smell. Love the mouthfeel also, a nice level of carbonation and a flavor that doesn't stay forever in your mouth.

Poured from 650ml bottle, shared between two.

A: A nice, clear copper. Very little head, and that disappeared quickly.

S: Quite nutty. Hints of chocolate. There's a breadiness to the aroma as well.

T: Nuts and malts are in your face! As it warmed up the subtler brown sugar and vanilla were noticeable.

M: Medium-high carbonation on this one, which settled down given some time. Medium bodied

O: At first sip this one was surprisingly plain, but as it warmed up the flavour came out and I quite enjoyed it. I don't know that I will pick another up in a bottle, but I would like to give it a try on tap one day.

P- wegmans in Mechanicsburg, PA

A- copper color that is halfway between clear and opaque. A gorgeous white chocolate like color head that is about a finger and half. Straight edge circle lacing around the pint glass as well.

S- hazelnut cream coffee. yum. light roasted malts as well. nutty as well

F- flavor mimicks the nose. It is always good when that happens.

M- a somewhat carbonated medium bodied brew. It goes down smooth as well.

O-a great brew from Oregon. It is simple yet tasty and goes down easily.

Appearance: dark copper; small off-white head dissipates quickly

Smell: Sweet malts and hazelnut aromas dominate, but it's reminiscent of Reese's Pieces; very interesting

Taste: Hazelnut taste and bitterness are at the forefront; slight hops throughout, but the dry nutty aftertaste kind of overwhelm it.

Mouthfeel: a little thin

Remarks: Not bad, but not that impressive either

Best finish, best brown ale. I have had it on tap and bottle. Rogue just makes great beers. The finish on this beer and aroma stick with you. Some brown ales can be quite bland. Not the case here. Smooth beer I could buy a keg of this daily drinker. The nut flavor is just right.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. 209 A-1 0831 is the bottle code.

Pours brown with very little head. Not cloudy, some visible carbonation. Smell is nutty, rich, a little chocolatey.

Taste is nutty, slight lemon peel flavor, slight fruity flavor. Bitterness without seeming terribly hoppy.

Mouthfeel is light, slightly gritty. Overall, this is a pretty solid beer.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass, aggressively. About 1-1.5" head that didn't especially retain. Lacing there but on the minimal side. That might just be my opinion based on how hoppy the beers I have been drinking recently are. Dark brown, this ale is not translucent in the slightest. Didn't get much on the smell. However, the taste I remembered being not quite as delicious as this the last time I tried it. The hazelnut is coming through really nicely, and for not having enjoyed a beer this dark in a while, I am pretty happy with this one. Malty sweetness with the hazelnut flavor is just divine, and its backed by a nice hop presence. Carbonation was meh, no freshness date on this bottle, probably the only drawback to Rogue. A great ale. Can see why it is so popular

Mahogany reddish color with a beige head with medium retention and leaving laces.
Malty aroma with notes of caramel, hay, hazelnut and lots of chocolate.
Taste follows nose, nutty malt flavor balanced with mild earthy hops. Notes of hazelnut, caramel, chocolate, roasted malts and vanilla. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Medium body with medium carbonation.
Lovely Brown Ale with a malty and nutty profile and not shy in flavors. Hazelnut notes are light and it does not seem artificial. I had preferred the John John version, though.

Poured into a pint glass.

A - Copper Reddish color with a one finger head and moderate lacing. bubbles shooting up from bottom, very carbonated.

S - Smells of hazelnuts and chocolate big time. getting a little bit of coffee too. Kind of bready as well.

T - Whoa, this beer is amazing. Malt bomb. not really getting any hops at all. just getting a nice blend of sweet malt and mild chocolate coffee like taste....big lingering nutty finish. A very rich yet not too heavy brown ale. awesome. It reminds me of yards brawler, but on steroids.

M - really carbonated and a moderate mouth feel, and dangerously smooth with no bite at all on the end.

overall this is a great beer. i definitely recommend trying it if you havent.

Pours translucent reddish-brown with very little head and very little lacing.

Smell is hazlenut, molasses and biscuit breadiness. Very impressive.

Taste follows smell with hazlenut, molasses and brown sugar. Malty breadiness prevents it from being too sweet. Very faint citrus tart on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Smell is incredible. Like Honey Nut Cheerios on steroids. Tastes almost as good as the smell. An impressive brown ale.

Bought a single 12 ounce bottle from City Swiggers as part of a six pack mix.

It poured a deep ruby red when held up to the light. The head was average and a touch soapy on the edge.
The smell produced coffee and a strong hazelnut aroma.
The taste was extremely pleasant. A later of sweet coffee/hazelnut/vanilla with a touch of caramel. None of which were overpowering. However, for a brown ale the body was a bit thin.
