Gross. Nasty. Why?
Just squirt some Sriracha into your own favorite stout and ruin it.
I am so over "grocery" beers.
We split a bottle and no one could drink it. Expensive Drain-O.

I hate to say so, but I am NOT a fan of the current approved pic! I have gone through a LOT to set up my own home photography studio just to support this site & seeing a blurry photo just torques me. Oh well. I began clearing out my Rogue backlog a few days ago on a whim & this is another in that series, I am closing in on the Voodoo Donut series & than I will be out. I don't know whether to be elated or saddened by this.

From the Bottle: "Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer"; "Natural Ingredients"; "Rogue Rooster Sauce"; "Don't Shake!"; "I Put Sriracha In My Rogue"; "Dedicated to the Rooster"; "Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer, made from Huy Fong original hot chili sauce and sun ripened Rogue Farms ingredients, is ready to drink with soups, sauces, pasta, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chow mein, or anything you'd like to wash down with a spicy kick."; "15° Plato*55 IBU*77 AA*118° L"; "100% Pure Rogue"; "Oregon Brewed*Established 1988*Oxygen Fixing Caps".

I just finished drinking their Chipotle Ale & since this seemed like a natural pairing & the next in the queue, I decided to go with it. Upon Pop!ping the cap, I got a whiff of Sriracha. Fine by me. I knew some VietNam vets that would immediately gag at the smell. It ain't easy being a fellow vet at times. 8=( The bottle had the heavy colorful overlay so that I could not see where I was in relation to the kick/punt & IAW this, I went with a slow, gentle C-Line pour. I was pleasantly surprised as it evinced a pseudo-cascade, eventually forming two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, dark-brown head with excellent retention. Mouthfeel was medium. I liked the way that the taste was initially of the base Stout with the spicy heat slowly building underneath it. This deserved to have Ravel's "Bolero" playing as accompaniment. It built slowly, but unrelentingly, coming up to a crescendo of burning heat, especially along my lips. In the meantime, the underlying chocolatiness of the base Stout was like Flava Flav's raucous voice in juxtaposition to the basso profundo of Chuck D. OMFG! What was this going to lead to?!? The heat built beautifully in my mouth, searing my tongue nicely. Once this was accomplished, it was on to my sinus cavity where a subtle sense of lingering heat simmered, causing my eyes to water uncontrollably. Mmm. Next, my esophagus began to catch the heat, as in the backdraft of a raging fire!

Before I was a Navy cop, I was a smoke-eating firefighter. In the USMC, every Marine is a rifleman, but in the Navy, every sailor (should be) a fireman. I went hardcore & rogue on my second ship & though of becoming a Damage Controlman (DC), but my mechanical skills lacked & I would have been more book-smart than a wrench-turner & so I backed off. In the meantime, the DCA decided that he liked the cut of my jib & sent me to San Dog for a week of Intensive Firefighting Training. Upon return to the ship, I became one of the youngest (21/22 y/o) Locker Leaders ever! That is usually a senior E-7 billet & I was a newly-advanced E-5, but they wanted to free the present Locker Leader up for other duties. I loved doing it, but it taught me that fire is nothing to mess around with. I have a deep respect for firefighters & was gutted on 9-11. 8=(

Now that the heat had built to its crescendo, I decided to pour the remainder, only to realize that I was only halfway through! OMFG. I was really coming to believe in this sort of thing. I have a couple of local imbibers who cannot get enough heat, much like my younger brother. This would be on the low end for them, but for me, it got my senses tingling. Mmm,

This reminded me of Mexican (hot) Chocolate, both in bar and liquid form. I had a LOT of Mexicali girlfriends while on the West Coast & our common denominator was less sex than cooking. Peppers went into everything, including Hot Chocolate, which scandalized me at first, but then I came around. Our gang, er, club began to refer to me as "Chef" as I became as proficient as the mamacitas at making tamales. The girls were really into a gringo who had withstood a weekend beat-in & still fought alongside their cholos while cooking authentic food. Man, I totes dug it!

Back to the beer. The tingle was throughout my body! This was like liquid sex. It seemed to seep into every inch of my body, including my spine. Mmm. Suddenly, the finish was upon me & I rocked back from my upright & seated position to one more supine! Phew! Like a KO on the finish. Ho! Let's do this again … real soon. Phew. YMMV.

It's like no other beer I've tasted, I'll give it that. Predominant taste is indeed Sriracha, which overwhelms all the other more subtle notes that I know are there. I appropriately won this from drinking Rainier beer, faster than anyone else, from a sippy cup at a baby shower. I'm glad to have had this experience, but have to say, I wouldn't buy this again.

Seen this so many times when shopping for beer. Never pulled the trigger but glad it was brought by for dinner tonight!

Dark black pour, with a nice finger length of tan head that settles slowly and leaves small amount of lace around the glass.

Roasty coffee and chocolate dictate the major aromas. You really get the chiles as you waft and as it warms, a very good balance on the nose. Rich, sweet, roasty, and spicy all in one.

The flavor profile on this is loaded with roasty malts and bitter coffee, with the tail a really nice contrasting balance of dark chocolate and chili peppers. A little one-dimensional but pretty damn good.

The weight on this beer let me down a little bit. Wanted more viscosity, more “chew”. The carb is medium but sharp, and in this sense drinks a little more like a porter. Spicy warmth down the hatch, slightly sticky finish.

Ok. Had to try a chili beer and this is the one I could find. The first impression is that it seems a standard stout but the hot chili catches up,with you. It’s ok, but not something I would do all the time.

Was hoping for more pepper heat.
Lots of malt and a little pepper at end.
Very pleasant drink.
Would be great to cook with. Am going to use it in a few recipes.

It pours black with a relatively small head. The aroma is roasty and with a hint of pepper. The taste is bitter from the roasted malts with very little balance offered from anything else in the grist. The finish is fairly hot from the sriracha. The combination of the flavors offered by the Maillard reaction and the sriracha gives you the impression you're eating cooked meat with hot sauce.

Large bottle. Poured a dark brown with about a finger of head. Smell was of old chili peppers and had an acidity to it. Taste was of a mild stout with the sriracha heating up my throat in the aftertaste. I did not find this to have balance and the nose was terrible, would not recommend.
