Poured this into a pint glass. Pours into a dark amber color and has a fingernail head that follows the beer down the glass.

Has a hoppy smell, I am not a huge fan of hops and it smells pretty good.

Nice fruit aromatic smell. Has a nice toffee malt head with notes of caramel. Is very smooth to drink and goes down easily.

This is another great rogue beverage.

I have wanted to try this beer for some time and I got my growler filled today at Consumers.Poured a slight hazed light amber with a tight well formed 1/2 finger head that left a ring of lace as it settled.Ah man the aromas of this beer would make any hophead speak in tongues at first smell,I popped open the growler to fresh squeezed grapefruit and damp pine needles with underlying freshly mown grass just beautiful and to me pretty much perfect. The fresh hop flavors just abound here really wake up the taste buds there is a sweet caramel malt base there and it holds up ok until the finish when the big dose of fresh citrusy/piney and extremely resiny hop comes crashing thru.Burping fresh tasting hop is a treat,by far my new favorite red its so good I might finish off the growler today!Ouch.

Dark reddish brown pour with a medium head that held up pretty well. The nose was malty. Good hoppiness as well with underlying hints of fruit. The taste was nicely hopped. Good maltiness and a slight fuity sweetness to follow. Good overall balance and body. An enjoyable beer. Not my favorite from Rogue, but good nonetheless.

Appearance – Extremely dark ruby red in color with a decent had that dissipated slowly.

Smell – Nice mix of bitter hops and malts. The hop aroma is a little stronger, but both come out nicely.

Taste – Very crisp red ale. The malt flavor, along with just a hint of sugary sweetness, ends up at the finish. The crux of this ale is the bitter and floral hops, which are excellent.

Mouthfeel – There’s a slight carbonation to this medium-bodied ale. It is extremely refreshing and thirst-quenching.

Drinkability – I’m not a big fan of the red ales, but I really like this one. It went down well, hit the spot, and found a place in my regular shelf spacing.

12oz bottle poured hazy orange-red with a dingey white head.

The hops are the first thing that jump out at you, earthy, spicey resins and maybe a touch of cinnamon.

It has quite a bit of body with good balance that always leans toward the hops. I'm not sure if it's the yeast but it has that classic "rogue" taste.

The price range would make it better for me but, still a beer i'll splurge on to take to a party when I just want something nice.

A: Poured from a bottle into a pint glass producing an average head of light brown color with minimal lacing.

S: Fantastic floral hop aroma that only dry hopping can produce!

T: The hops have done more than just produce great aroma, they are prevalent in the flavor as well - and not just bittering. They truly produce a nice earthy flavor perfectly meshing with the aromas. Malts are there but in a distance second to the hops. Finish has just the faintest hint of sweetness.

M & D: Medium bodied and very satisfying with a richness that keeps you coming back.

I love hoppy beer and this was no exception. There were hops present throughout the experience but nothing that was overpowering or sharp. A nice smooth base ale, perfectly accented with earthy flavorful hops. Great ale!

An all around good beer. This one poured a good dark red color with a small frothy white head that left an unusual ammount of lace for its size. The smell was quite dark with a deep carmel malt scent accented with a great hop smell as well. The taste was of burnt carmel malt and a slight dry hoppiness that stood out and gave a great presence. Definantly a good beer to go back to.

Pours a deep red color-I like 'em red! Thin head, not much lace. Smell is malty sweet, very similar to the American Amber ale. (I love beers that smell this way.) Tastes very good, with a slightly bitter afterstaste. It has a rather thin mouthfeel at first, but that gets better as the beer warms.

Overall, this is a tasty brew. Nothing too flashy, just a good, solid, easy drinking ale.

Ah, if only all red ales were this good.

A very hoppy red ale, which is always a good thing. There's a decent, bitter kick in the flavor, which was a pleasant, unexpected suprise.

There is a sweetish, strong scent to this beer.

The mouthfeel is also strong and hearty. Good and filling.

Drinkability: definitely worth having more than once. I certainly will have it again.

Dry hopped version. A pretty beer: cherry amber color, thick tan head, some lacing. Not much aroma, faint floral and biscuity malt. Fruit taste, apple and maybe a little cherry. Hops definitely present, and I think a little on the unpleasant side of sharp.. A so-so beer.

650ml brown bomber bottle; painted label; no freshness date.

Pours a deep garnet coloured beer, crowned with a biege foam head; decent head retention. Sweet-ish/candied/fruit aroma, with a malty base and light floral hops.

Smooth mouthfeel, very light in the body; even a bit watery. Malty, but not in a big way. More of a light sweetness (subdued caramel, touch of roasted) and dominant grain character that's both coarse and dry on the palate. Crisp, and even more so with the beer's fizzy carbonation that provides a good palate cutting edge. Hops have a slightly woody/herbal note about them with a bit of sharp cheese thrown in and a citric/bitter base. Hop and grain tannins mass to form the finish, which is rather dry and a tad bitty.

Not a bad brew, a bit unbalanced, lacking and average; leaning heavily towards to the hop character. Malty aroma is deceiving, too. Overall not one of Rogue's best, but certainly drinkable and appealing here and there. Worth a try, but don't expect a lot from this beer.

The beer poured into a pint shared with my wife.

The color is brown with a head which quickly dissipates

The aroma is malty with a hint of citrus hops.

The taste is malty sweet to start it quickly turns earthy with a large mouth. The earthiness was to much at first but it grew on me.

My wife love it and got mad that i didn't rate it higher.

Pours a slightly hazy bright amber color with a magnificent light tan, chunky head. Great lacing left along the pint glass. Smells of citrus, spicy malts, hop spice. Taste is nothing extraordinary but extremely balanced and very enjoyable. Biscuity malts, balanced out with citrusy hops. Good slightly dry, hoppy finish although slight taste of metal is prevalent. Medium bodied, good carbonation. Excellent session brew.

A- pours an reddish amber with ruby and tangerine highlights in the light, with a thin but solid head

S- Mmm, american hops with some pleasant malts and soft caramel

T- Good, lots of hoppiness from the dry hopping but not overpowering with the grains tasting sweet and tasty under the bitter citrus. Not the best beer ever, but definitely refreshing.

M- This is the best part of this beer, the high carbonation and medium body seem perfect with the hop oiliness seeming to just rush past the tongue with a slight lingering in a refreshing "drink more of me" way

D- The hops are a little strong but this is certainly enjoyable enough to go back to for a few more, just wouldn't make it my regular beer of choice

Presentation: 22 oz brown bomber with no freshness date. List of ingredients and specs on the brew are on the label.

Appearance: Thick yet cropped bubbly head does a fine job of sticking to the glass, rusty amber hue shows a mild chill haze.

Smell: Mild malty aroma with notes of toasted grain and sweetness, some hop and yeast as well as fruitiness is in the back.

Taste: Sturdy medium body and smooth carbonation. Raw but rounded maltiness, toasty with husk undertones. Mild fruitiness with signs of yeast, hops are there and balance more than anything else at first. Flavours from the hops are modest but broad though the citric flavour is light with more piney notes on top. More lazy toasted malt flavour linger in the finish with some residual sweetness and hop flavour.

Notes: A decent red ale, actually it is quite tasty in a laid back way though I like its alternate ego “Dry Hop Red” which is the tapped version that is dry-hopped to the hilt. I found this to be a perfect pairing with my Hell’s Fire Beef Stew.

A: Pours a great amber ale with a fluffy tan head. this is a great looking brew with a slight haze

S: I was expecting malt from the appearance but then again it is dry hopped and that is what you get. there is a very good earthy hop nose

T: grassy hop taste with some earthy notes. there is a sweet malt in the background but the hops are definitely at the forefront of this red/amber ale.

M: I like this beer but it looses me a little on the mouthfeel. To me, its a little on the lighter side with a slick feel. I would have liked to see a smoother, fuller body, but hey... to each his own!

D: This is a great red ale, it catches you off guard because its very heavy on the hops, a bit more extreme take on the style... really good brew from rogue!

On tap at the AOBF 5/24/03

Listed as "St. Rogue Red Dry-Hopped" in the program for the AOBF.

Cloudy apple cider in appearance. Minimal tan-colored head laces quite nicely. Aromas, predictably, are of hops. Not quite as "heavy" as expected, but distinctly hoppy, with just a slight sweet undertone in the background. Taste was not as over-the-top Rogue-esque hoppy as I' d expected, especially for a beer that was dry-hopped. Hoppy flavor with a surprisingly-balanced malt sweetness noted as well. However, there was an almost "iced-tea" flavor to this beer as it warmed. Mouthfeel is smooth, though slightly on the thin side. Drinkability is tolerable. I was slightly disappointed by this offering from Rogue, given my typical love for most of the beers I've had from them.

I had this on tap at Union Jack's on the Manatawny. It came in a pint glass.

Arrived a mostly clear red with light brown tints. A nice 2 finger head of off-white foam rests on top. This is a pretty beer. The head eventually falls to islands and a ring, with very good lacing.

Aroma is grassy hops, big and bold, with a good caramel malt smell right there. Some faintly fruity smells, but the grassy hops are strong.

Flavor is grassy hops right up front, followed by a fairly intense hop bitterness, and caramel/toffee candy. Maybe just a wee bit thin in mid-sip, but still pretty damn good. Not much residual sweetness. Aftertaste is a nice combo of grass and bitter and caramel.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, but dries out a little in mid-sip. Carbonation is medium, and adds a nice bite to the beer. Finish is on the dry side.

This, to me, is a session beer par excellence. It's complex, not too strong, and tasty as a sumbitch.
