I've been looking for a good American Amber Ale lately and thought I would give this one a try.
This beer pours very vivaciously into my imperial pint glass. Very strong carbonation that creates a masterful head atop this beaut. Succulent dark amber color is noted. The aroma is also very nice. Mostly a strong fruity hop aroma, with some floral and citrusy undertones. There is a hint of malt as well. The flavor of this beer let me down a little. The citrusy and floral hops dominate the beer. I really can't say there were a great deal of malts noticed. Not quite bitter enough to be an IPA, but the aroma and flavor hops make this beer seem like an IPA. I was really upset by the lack of malts. Being a hop head I did really enjoy the flavor, but it just doesn't quite fit the style to me. The mouthfeel is also a bit thin. I know this beer shouldn't be heavy, but it just seemed like I was drinking water when it came to the mouthfeel.
Overall a good, solid amber ale. Not my favorite, but definitely worth a try. If I found a 6 pack, I might pick it up again. I probably won't run out and buy another bomber immediately.

12 fl. oz. bottle, at Olympen, Oslo. Deep copper colour, nice and creamy head. Lovely aroma of American hops. Hoppy flavour, notes of Scotch orange marmalade and malts too. Very nice beer!

Comes in closer to light brown in the middle and only red toward the edges. Still relatively pretty, thin 1/3" off white head. Aroma was impressive for a red ale, was actually hoppy just as much if not more than the red malts coming through.
Taste was a nice hoppy, pine contribution, bitterness is sturdy, yet not oppressive. Its a good hoppy red. Its not exactly cheap, but its better than their bomber format pricing at least. Caramel more than toffee in the malt notes. Not sweet. Just about straddling that second and first tier hoppy red ale divide.

Disappointing. Tastes like wet cardboard.

Not much in the nose, but great taste start to finish. Compared to the Ninkasi Red, this wins, no contest.
