It poured an opaque dark maroon, with a tan head that faded fast. (Not surprising, with 11.3% ABV!) The aroma was hops, tobacco, prune, chocolate.
Taste was espresso, tobacco, leather, and malt. After a few minutes, that was totally inundated with hops, followed by warming alcohol. The mouthfeel was creamy, and it finished with hops and charcoal.
This sat in my cellar for about 8 months or so, but as other reviews have said, it could have stayed for a lot longer. Still, it was pretty awesome!

Served in a tulip at Stoddard's in Boston.
Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a dark crimson mahogany color with no clarity or vision of bubbles. Nice frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.
Smell: caramel, toffee, raisins, fruity, grassy spicy hops, and cherry.
Taste: Same ad above. Based on the smell, I figured it wouldn't be that sweet. Hoppy bitterness in the end.
Mouthfeel: Silky smooth, full bodied, sipper, low carbonation, and a little booze.
Overall: Pretty nice barleywine. Could use a bit more sweetness, but I'm happy.
