look: 4.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Presentation: 22oz. bomber. Small blurb about dedicating this beer to dads. No stamp regarding bottle or lot.

Appearance: Slightly hazy golden straw color. Small white head forms with moderate-low retention. Small stream of bubbles from the glass is indicating a higher level of carbonation. Overall a very good looking beer. Although there is haze, it may be more of a sign of mishandling by the distributor and/or liquor store.

Aroma: Grassy noble hop aroma upfront with a load of malt sweetness. Very slight hint of dimethyl sulfide and an alcoholic fusels in the background, and getting a very occasional whiff of sulfur.

Taste: Corn sweetness with a light lingering hop bitterness in the finish and notes of alcohol fusels. Not much other flavor going on here.

Mouthfeel: The body is fuller than what I have expected.

Notes: Not a bad malt liquor. I think the hop aroma is a bit too strong and the body is too full for the style. Other than that, it is easily drinkable, but the sweetness of the malt and corn is just too strong for me to drink too much of it. Alcohol warmth is noticeable, but not hot or solventy.

A - Pours a super clear light orange color with a 1 inch super white head that fades to a film. No lacing.

S - Smells of malts, sweetness, and cereal like corn flakes.

T - Tangy malt with very mild hop flavors. Sweet corn comes out too.

M - Very good carbonation. Very crisp and very clean beer.

D - Very good beer that is very easy to drink. This is my first of the malt liquor style of beer and I like what Rogue has to offer with this one.

Pours a medium golden color, with just a little bit of off white head. Aroma is all classic malt liquor, except somehow more refined. On the palate, I'm not getting a whole lot, just a bit of sweet malt and maybe a kiss of hops. This one doesn't have a whole lot going on, but it does have a great mouthfeel and it is very drinkable.

Dark blond with a nice white head. Definitely looks like a malt liqour. Not sure if that's a good thing.

I'm not getting much on the nose. Hints of some sweet malt and the corn.

A little thin and watery up front with a heavy sweet malt blast on the finish. fainter lingering aftertaste.

While this is definitely several notches above the OE, Steel Reserve and the like and I appreciate the effort, it's not really up my alley. Not likely to choose this again. If you're a 40's kinda guy or gal though, give a 22 of this a try.

No date on bottle but that's OK. Served in a Rogue shaker pint glass (why not). Beer is yellow and clear. Forms a big white head of small and medium bubbles that falls away leaving a little lacing on the glass. Carbonation is moderate with tiny bubbles. Looks good.

Aroma is sweet and grainy. Not much going on there. Smells OK.

Nice, medium body clean. Very nice. Sweetness up front, great feeling on the palate. I really like this beer. I have a soft spot for big lagers. Drinkability high and mouthfeel good. I would recommend it for either the pedestrian or serious beer drinker.

Really enjoyed this. It was a surprise. This poured with a thick head into my standard pint glass. It is definitely malt liquor, but I would hesitate to call it that. It was remiscent of Don de Dieu from Unibroue to me for some reason.

Great beer for an evening watching movies and hanging out.

Dad's little helper is a nice simple and drinkable beer.

The color tone is the same nice golden of most beers of this style.

There is a slight hoppiness and a smooth drinkability.

Not the best beer I've had but definitely a damn drinkable beer. Maybe a nice introduction beer for those who are new to microbrews.

Rogue hasn't made anything that I have tried and didn't like yet so here's to another success

A: Pours a slightly hazy straw color, with a half finger white head that disappears almost immediately.

S: Sweet malts, almost a caramel characteristic to it, with an ever so slight whiff of hops. Not a lot going on.

T: Grains, sweet malts and the caramel taste fully develops...again, nothing to speak of as far as complexity.

M: Medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation, fairly smooth.

D: Goes down reasonably easy but not interesting enough to want much of.

Found a bottle at Whole Foods.... seen them sitting there for some months now with no takers... and I heard they quite bottling this... perhaps a rumor?

- Straw yellow... minimal head... lots of bubbly from their choice of pilsner yeast in this... nice froth of white head lingers... somewhat clear.

- A bready and bright scent with a bit of citrus and zest.... nice subtle sweet caramel and vanilla... little bit of hot booziness..

- Yep, this is some malty sweet stuff. Creamy smooth corny flavored and sweet grainy stuff... overall not too bad... little zesty and bright... almost a lemon bite. Certainly interesting.

- Actually somewhat light to medium bodied... and very bubbly... little dry, but overall decent.

- Little too much adjunct ingredients kind of takes the flavor into a different direction for me... but overall it is certainly a good take on a style that is usually quite terrible. Rogue made a bad style rather good.

Aroma - Sweet malts with saaz hops and a watery pils aroma, which I guess is a mineral water like aroma. Also a slight corn note as well.

Appearance - Pale golden yellow without a ton of carbonation but a decent creamy head that doesn't dissipate too quickly.

Taste - Light but slightly harsh corn lager taste. Not sweet at all really. Neither great nor bad but does provide a decent balance of sweet and bitter which is not your usual malt liquor.

Notes - I picked this up at the local on sale for $1.99 which would easily make it my go to malt liquor if it was always that price. Probably the best malt liquor I've had.

Poured into a pint glass.

Low expectations yield a staisfying experience.

An orangish brown body that is somewhat underwhelming and carbonated to a fault. I could literally hear the carbonation when I poured it. A finger of off white head tops it off.

A very sweet and fruity smell. Sweet malts with apple and pear highlights. Smells basically like apple juice. Not very subtle but quite fine.

A very malty and fruity taste. Tastes like apple juice that's a little bready along with a mild taste of hops.

Watery. Also, the carbonation that was so present during the pour now seems dulled.

For all its faults, in the end Rogue makes a malt liquor that achieves what you usually want out of the style. It's very drinkable, light and is a good thirst quencher.

Damn, son! Let's get drunk fast and cheap! What do we buy? Malt liquor of course! But what kind? Is it Colt 45? King Cobra? Hell no, we're going with a classy (and slightly more expensive) brew to get us snookered. We're going with Dad's Little Helper, one of Rogue's best offerings. This beer is delectable in every way, and its name is both cool and clever. Drink up.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy golden yellow. Thin white head. Good carbonation. Certainly a darker shade of yellow than most of the style. Little bit of lacing.

Smell: Malty. Flowery hops.

Taste: Honey. Decently hopped. Little spicy in the finish with a mild bitterness.

Appearance: bright yellow in color, 1/2 inch head, moderate carbonation, clear

Smell: toasted malt, grass, and honey

Taste: grass, honey, small amount of hops, toasted malt, and a touch of alcohol

Mouthfeel: light bodied, high carbonation, sweet with a small touch of bitter hops

Drinkability: I find the honey malt combo to be very tasty. The alcohol is there, but not as overpowering as some in the style. I will have this again, but will not rush out for it. It is good for the style. This is one of the better beers from Rogue that I have had lately. Normally I am disappointed with them having a grand idea and not executing. Here I had mixed feelings about the idea, but execution was very good.

Dad's Little Helper Malt Liquor was a clear yellow color with some floaties and a half-inch, white head that showed little retention.

The aroma was a slight skunk right off the bat, but that quickly faded in favor of a weak sweet malt smell. Dad's was otherwise fairly neutral.

The taste definitely came down on the side of sweeet, like munching on a heavily powdered sugar doughnut.

You don't see this too often in a light colored beer, but the mouth feel was medium bodied and oily with modest carbonation.

The drinkability was pretty good, only held back by its huge sweetness.

When you crack open a bottle labeled "Malt Liquor", your expectations are generally not that high. Dad's exceeded my expectations, but then I have low standards. But seriously folk, it was not bad at all.

poured from a bomber, nearly ice cold, and I think this might be the best way to drink this one.
malty taste, with a bit of caramel sweetness. the alcohol is noticeable, but not unpleasant, and it was kind of expected anyway. a little rough around the edges, but not hard to knock this one back.
you pretty much know what you're getting with malt liquor, so no disappointment here. in fact, I was actually pretty pleased with how it tasted. not something I'd buy regularly, but it's definitely worth checking out, even if you're not a big malt liquor fan.

This beer pours a slightly hazy light straw colour, with two fingers of creamy, puffy white head, which leaves a paint-job of lace around the glass as it falls away. It smells of white cracker grain, grass, and a little skunk. The taste is white grain malt, with a bit of corn mealiness, grassy hops, and some relatively smooth warming alcohol. The carbonation is quite mild, the body full, and only hinting at being cloying, and it finishes sweet, the mixed grains and mild booziness holding things together.

The malt liquor heritage definitely shines through, but everything seems fuller and more well rounded than every other example of the style I've had the misfortune of sampling - but I suppose that's the whole point.

I thought it was funny by the label from Rouge so I had to get it. I a not a big fan of malt liquor but hey you only live once. Poured into a pint glass at 35 degrees.

Appearance: There is a nice one finger white head that has some retention to it. The body of the beer is medium straw color. There is a lot of effervescence in the beer. The clarity of the beer is slightly hazy.

Nose: A good amount of malt aroma with elements of bready yeast but not as strong as many malt liquors. The alcohol is prevalent in the beer. In the back ground there is a slight sweetness.

Taste: There is malt, a tame amount of the bready yeast. The alcohol is there but not overpowering. In the background of the beer there is a touch of sweetness.

Overall: The mouth fee is carbonated and creamy. The body of the beer is medium to medium thick and the finish is medium also. This is not a typical malt liquor you get in the 40's The beer is refined, but it still taste like a malt liquor.

For a malt liquor you really are not going to get anything better taste wise from one. Even though i paid 4 bucks for a 22 oz, I felt like i was totally satisfied being that i have had my fair share of malt liquors. It has that classic golden malt liquor color, not any different from Kobra or Colt. This is a very smooth ride just like most rogue brews, but not much going on in this one other than malts. All I really have to say is for the price its worth the try at least. I would rather have their other brews but not a disappointment in the least bit. I just kind of picked it up for a nostalgic kind of thing. Most people would be satisfied i think.

You've got to try a malt liquor made by Rogue.

A- Clear, tinted yellow with a short lived white head.

S- Sweet malt, cream corn, a whiff of alcohol and an ever so subtle hop note.

T- Grainy, juicy fruit gum, caramel, and noticable but not burning alcohol.

M- Smooth and sweet at first, then as it warms dries out and avoids becoming cloying.

D- First half went down pretty quickly. Second half, not as fast.

A beer worth trying to get a decent example of a normally pretty harsh and unapproachable style, but not one to seek out. Feel free to drink it from the bottle in a paper sleeve.

Rogue Dad's Little Helper is a sparkling, clear, dense golden lager with a thin white head that leaves excellent lacing. There is light grain and corn in the nose... perhaps black pepper or alcohol. It's medium bodied and quite smooth. The finish is dry and pretty clean. It's slightly sweet and boozy tasting. Yeah, it's malt liquor. It tastes less poisonous than your typical malt liquor. There's no fusel to be found here. It somehow seems very... Rogue.

-got some nose to it. some apple indeed

Wanted to try this after listening to the Jamil Show on cloning it wondering how this bad boy tasted.

A - Poured a nice clear yellow. Not much of a head but stuck around a lot longer then most malt liqours.

S - Smelled very musty, just like a malty mustiness that was not pleasant at all to me. Might have been on the shelf for a while but was not impressed with the aroma. Not very pleasing to me at all.

T - The first thing that hit me was a corn like sweetness. Surprisingly it has a good amount of body and residual sweetness. After that just a light bitterness lingers on the tongue. I could pick up hints of vanilla and green apple.

M - As stated a pretty decent body on this one. Not a thin fizzy beer at all.

D - Not bad you could probably down a few but at this price why bother.

So to sum up worth a try once but at this price not really one I would go back to. If it were like $2 for a bomber I would probably buy it every once in a while but at $6 a bomber forget about it.

Pours transparent yellow with white head. Malt liquor scent but nicer: toilet water with hops, (let's pretend I'm at Penn State.) Malt liquor taste but wetter, tarter, hoppier, and with residual sugar out the a$$. A sugary hangover-to-come beer equipped with malt extract and everything not craft. S-Malty & Yeasty similar to a typical pils.

T-Sweet yeasty beginning rolling into a thick malted finish.

M-Very malt liquor typical.
