Malt liquor HUH?! From Rogue?!! Why not! Let's see what sort of uh.. fancy glass I can throw this in, sure a simple nonic pint will do.

A real nice body color that seems to be a faint orange with yellow hues, some large cola bubbles also. Very cloudy appearance. Head barely manages to produce a finger of off white foam, very soapy and large. Clumpy yeast at the bottom, frozen beer almost suspended in appearance, also flakes which don't exactly look appetizing.

This nose is real surprising. Fruity lemon and apple, with some nice grain dry malt behind it. No giant rush of heat expected either. For just malt liquor this is quite a surprise.

Taste brings more of that fruit character. Some rolling lemon but mostly apple on the tongue, mixes with a real nice malt character. Crisp and effervescent but also real strong and chewy grain feeling, with some nice apple flesh and bite. A real nice mix of carbonation in the mid palate too. No sense of boozyness either.

Overall this is shockingly good.

A: A clear gold color with a thick white head that laces the glass.

S: Sweet grainy alcohol aroma with some fruity esters.

T: A corn and grain flavor with mixed with alcohol and sweet esters. A touch of hop in the finish.

M: A heavier body with good carbonation.

O: I typically don't drink malt liquor, but this isn't too bad.

Since the moment I saw this beer, It was something that I had to try. A beer called "Dads Little Helper Malt Liquor" gave you an interesting and mysterious introduction about what this beer could be. Excellent appearance, orange color, almost a dense feeling going around. Notes of everywhere, leaving a trace all over the glass. A sour and sugary smell, like candy with salt, something different difficult to catch for me. The taste took me to some saison beers, i dont know why, but this taste is magnificient. nice ending, not too sweet. Alcohol balance. A fruit flavor predominant, with some citrus like orange and lemon. The mouthfeel left you a sticky ending, but also very smooth.
An excellent beer that I would look for sure the next time. Excellent piece of work by Rogue.

I've searched far and wide for this, but I only found a few in 4 months of searching and now I'm on the last one. The color is orange in color, slightly lighter than an orange peel and a slim amount of head. Smell and taste are sweet almost sugary, with a faint and i mean faint taste of butterscotch, and the mouth feel is creamy, which i think is the only true thing the this delicious craft malt liquor has with its mass produced 40oz brethren.

22 oz bomber into short stemmed tulip.

A: a hazy golden yellow. bubbly head white head with decent retention and lacing.

S: the aroma starts with a slightly acidic twang. complexity with the malts is rather inviting. besides the grain, there is a dynamic between the hops and czech pils yeast that is also delightful.

T: the flavor is bright and a little fruity. a significant hop presence. tons of sweetness. sugary sweetness. the finish has a distinctive linger of corn, but not in a bad way. very nice.

M: carbonation is light and fizzy. medium/full bodied. not your typical malt liquor, but still tasty.

D: pretty tasty brew from Rogue. interesting take on a "malt liquor", and i use quotations simply because of the amount of flavor present here which is not usually the case with american malt liquors. an easy drinking, tasty brew at a very reasonable price. dont know where all the negative reviews are coming from for this beer, but this is a win in my book.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter, yes, I drank it out of a snifter. I got this bottle on sale for $1.99 in Athens, GA.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy light amber color with a small amount of off white head that disappears completely.

Smell: Sweet with strong hints of banana.

Taste: Just like the smell. Sweet with a lot of banana. A bit watery and light on flavor.

Mouthfeel: Thin with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I thought this was alright. I didn't expect the banana notes, but I'm not sure what I was expecting. Probably wouldn't have this again.

A friend of mine shared this bottle with me. I was excited to knock off the malt liquor style without having to drink any of a number of swills out there. Thanks Dave!

I poured this beer into a pint flass. I immediately picked up a lot of sweetness in the nose.

There was a decent amound of carbonation. The coloring was cloudy, deep orange. The body was decently thick, like a light stout.

I was expecting a lot more alcohol heat coming from this beer, but it wasn't there. I had some heat in the back of the throat, but that was about it. As it warmed, the heat increased... but the beer stayed drinkable.

The maltiness is very present. That, and some bitterness stayed after each drink. The flavors were very reminiscent of Rogue Dead Guy due to the Pac Man esthers (thanks Dave).

I didn't expect to enjoy this beer, but it was pretty good. This was a good way to start the night.

I was happy to find this up in New haven, CT so that I didn't have to Colt 45 to get this style, but I still don't hold high expectations for this.

It pours a darker color than most malt liquors approaching a true amber. The head isn't all that large, but it's creamy and the very active carbonation holds it in place through the whole experience.

You get an immediate sweetness off the nose that smacks of honey. This smells like a mead actually complete with the alcohol heat accompanying. The taste is similar, but not quite as sweet as the nose, but still sweet all the same. There's a very minor hops presence here adding just the faintest hint of spice. The malts are like a sweetened cracker.

This is creamy and smooth and not as disagreeable as I had feared. But the finish isn't really all that clean, leaving behind some bitterness without bringing any hop flavor to enjoy. This does get a bit sticky on the lips the more you drink.

Review adapted from notes taken 4/3/11

Appearance: Golden orange, pours a bit cloudy with a thin head, some lacing

Smell: Sweet malts and corn, a lot of cereal - lacks the fusel alcohol stink that most malt liquors emit, which is a nice surprise - ultimately, boring but not bad

Taste: Surprisingly good - lots of corn, but also lots of sweet caramel and pale malts - kind of grainy - kind of spicy, which is a nice surprise - kind of tastes like a sweet bread with corn

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, nicely carbonated, smooth - could be a bit more crisp

Overall: Easily the best malt liquor I've ever had

All of the easily unlikable things about malt liquor - the nasty sweetness, the overall feeling of grossness - are absent from this beer. According to my notes, "doesn't have that solvent alcohol butthole flavor." I guess that sums it up. I wish more breweries did this.

A: Pours a yellowish orange color with a thick white foam head that dissipates to a small film. There is some moderate lacing.

S: A nice amount of caramel, honey, brown sugar and toast.

T: Starts off with grainy crisp toast taste. In the middle the toast is backed up with some mild honey and brown sugar. On the back end more grainy toast and honey. Not overly sweet.

M: A medium bodied beer with ample carbonation. Leaves a slightly sweet taste on the palate.

D: Not a bad Malt Liquor at all. Not overly sweet and some decent flavors. This is not a style I normally go for, but I enjoyed this brew.
