I am assuming this is what I had on tap at Max's yesterday. The beer menu just lists it as Rogue's Hop Heaven, with no reference to year or release number. In any event....

The beer pours a nice copper color with very good head retention and lacing. There is a beautiful perfumy hop nose (simcoe?), consisting of lemon and lime citrus. This beer smells wonderful. On the palate this is a pretty nice beer, with additional flavors of tobacco and leafiness from the wet hopping. There is also plenty of grapefruit citrus and bitterness, with the usual rogue dry/bitter finish. This is a nice beer, but it really would have been helped by a bit more malt to sweeten the flavor profile just a tad. The beer has a fairly clean mouthfeel, and the abv. is pretty well disguised. However, eventually the dry finish, coupled with the high abv. and bitterness just wore me out, detracting from the beers drinkability. Still, this is a pretty solid effort from Rogue.

Pint at Newport pub. Nice slightly hazed, burnt orange, big thick white head. Nice piney aroma though on the malty side for a PNW APA. Tasty APA the bitterness is nice and edges out a healthy malt taste. MIndy pine like hops here. Quite good on the palate, nice. Good drinkable APA, wouldnt mind seeing this in 6-packs.

A must for anybody who is a hops fanatic! Color is a dark honey-golden brown with a tan head that fairly persists. Aroma is strongly hoppy. Taste is VERY hoppy and strongly bitter, not complex. This is one of the hoppiest beers I have ever sampled. It leaves a lingering hop aftertaste.

This was awesome! Had this as my first beer of the new year on tap at barleys. Pured a deep hazy orange with a creamy head. Lace was all down the glass! Smell was literally hop heaven! Strong pine and citrus overwhelmed the nose. Taste was even better. Like a pine cone dipped in grapefruit juice! This was intense and utterly fantastic. I will be drinking as much as possible while they still have it!! Awesome way to bring in the new year!

On tap 11/17/06 at Redbones...
Cherry/copper color...hazy, with a full finger of white head. Most faded within a few minutes...some decent lacing remained.
Quite aromatic in the nose...fruity hops dominate with a malty sweetness in the finish.
Taste was fantastic...a bitter punch to the pallet with just enough sweetness to balance it out. Mainly citrus flavor but the bitterness is what really impressed this hophead. Not sure of the abv, but no detection of the alcohol...easily a session brew for me.
Very clean finish and fresh as could be...mouthfeel was full bodied and the carbonation was perfect.
Don't drink enough of their bottled offerings, but I'd be all over this one when I see it again. They even ran out of Smutty IPA as I ordered up this one and every person who first wanted a Smutty, was given this to try and not one person turned it down...tell ya somethin'?

On tap at Redbones. Thanks to Chris for putting this on.

A: Pours a clear dark amber color with a one finger white head. Nice retention with very decent lacing.
S: Big citrus hop notes emanate from the brew--slight grapefruit and pineapple notes. Refreshing...
T/M: Sports really nice citrus, mostly grapefruit, hop notes. Very smooth mouthfeel with an excellent long lasting bitterness and citris finish. Good level of malt to balance out the hops, but I'm seriously in hop heaven here as they mostly dominate this brew. Nice medium body with a smoothness across the palate.
D: Highly drinkbale brew. Thought it was an IPA at first, but now that I notice it's a hopped up pale ale, I'll have to go back and pick up another. Hop heads should love this tasty offering from Rouge.

You can read about this beer at Rogue's website: http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#JLSHopHeaven06

Got it in a pint glass at Bittercreek Ale House in Boise, ID.

Not my favorite Rogue in the world but a good pale ale nonetheless. In the Harvest style, plenty of fresh hop aromas and flavors.

Poured with about 1/2 inch of head on top, may have been the 'tender. Orangish copper color.

Seemed fairly low on alcohol especially for style. Unsure of % alcohol, tasted like about 6.

All hops in the flavor with just enough malt to balance it out a little bit, but this is still a hop bomb. Hops are very citrus and floral, very fresh tasting as would be expected.

Mouthfeel was slightly sticky, took a good long time to drink. Finished cleanly.

Not much to say beyond hoppy in this one. Good beer, but pretty one dimensional

Ordered this on a whim while at lunch at Fat Head's. Their draft list intimidating, I chose this due to the mention of fresh hops. I didn't release what a special release it was until I got back to the office to do my right up.

When it arrived at my table I was a little worried. Absolutely _zero_ head, with a hazy golden, straw color. A mistake? A sniff and a sip or three and I was reassured, as my swirls gave birth to light caps of foam.

My first sniff told me otherwise, this beer was bursting with hops, floral spicy, fruity and piney.

Excellent taste as well, this beer was fresh and tasty, with hops dominating throughout, though balanced enough to not blow my palette into smithereens. Thats a hoppy pale ale.

Nice mouthfeel, crisp and not too heavy. This one's damn drinkable, had I not been at lunch with coworkers and it were later in the evening, I could sit through a few of these. I think after a couple of them, sitting could be difficult, as this beer packs a punch.

Medium lace around the burnt orange/amber beer. Pretty in the class. Strong citrusy hop in the nose w/ ligth malt underneath. Big hop washes over the palate--not sure if it is, but tastes singular and clean. Good solid, big, not overcomplex hop but very tasty over top of a light malt sweetness that hides in the background. Very drinkable for a big IPA.

Served to me @ Tyler's in Durham. I asked which Locker Stock they had on tap, but the bartender wasn't sure. So, I was brave and order a pint of mystery Rogue beer, which I was pretty sure would be a good, or at least quality brew either way. What I got appeared to be a dark amber brown beverage, so dark in fact, I was sure it wasn't going to be the Hoppy treat I was looking for. I picked it up, stuck my face in the glass, and inhaled. HOPS. Sticky fresh hops. This is the darkest "pale ale" my eyes have ever seen. I'm really addicted to these wet hopped beers...so fresh and so very, very delicious. There's a distinct maltiness in Hop Heaven that compliments the hops really well. Nearly as impressive as Sierra Nevada's Harvest overall. Drinkable? Oh hell yes. Nicely done...try it if you see it.

For us hop heads, this is an absolutely delightful, delicious brew. Citrusy, from Centennial (sp?) hops, cloudy, a bit orange, nice head, very hoppy, too easily drinkable. Almost poundable, but watch out for the alcohol, whatever it is, it's definitely no 5.0 %beer. For my tastes, I have to rank this above Pliny the Younger, and dead even with Pliny the Elder in terms of taste. Because it's not overly filling, it's easier to be slower drinking with Pliny, but I just want to have 3 of these, and that would be enjoyable, but too much for driving. I love this beer.

On draft at the Dilly Deli and drank from a pint glass.
Poured a dark golden hue with a slight head.
The smell is hops and a slight alcohol smell in the nose.
The taste is pretty decent. A nice, controlled hoppy taste. Not quite as juicy or citrusy as a Weyerbacher Double Simcoe, but pleasant none the less. Good finish and easy to drink. There's a little more of a bitterness to this beer.
I could drink a lot of these. They taste good and are very sessionable. A good offering from Rogue. Worth a try.

this is a beautiful, dark amber beer, with a great, foamy head. The smell is a hop-head's dream, with a strong malt presence. Is this thing a DIPA? Wow, the hops kick you right in the teeth. This tastes like a double IPA -- but with more hops. I love those Rogue guys! Aggressive, yet not over the top. There is a balance to this brew, though not much. One of the experimentals of Rogue brewery, and I'm glad I got to try it. But the alcohol content is strong (I don't know what...), so watch out. This is a sipper, and needs to be nursed. If you find it on-tap, and you're a harvest ale fan, definitely worth the try.
