A: Poured a nice brown head, the thickness of a thumb, that dwindled down too a small coating of the surface. Beer was a nice, solid black color.

S: Some unexpected sweetness there paired with some roastiness.

T: Starts off with the bittersweet chocolate paired with some roasted malts. As the flavor develops the roastiness grows in its intensity and the espresso element starts to show itself in the flavor. Some burnt roastiness lingers. The opening flavor profile was my favorite component and I wish it wasn't so quick to exit.

M; Pretty smooth in texture but some carbonation is present. Medium bodied.

O: A decent porter that is dominated by the roasted malts. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy this one again, though I wouldn't be opposed to drinking it again. It has it's attributes I just think there are other beers I'd rather go to first.

A: 1 finger brown head. Molasses to black color. Carbonated.

S: Molasses, chocolate and licorice. Hint of alcohol.

T: Very chocolatey upfront. Tad bit molasses flavor and slight espresso finish.

M: thinner then expected although still slightly chewy and full bodied.

O: This is an ok beer. Tastes good but I'd pass on buying it again.

Appearance - Dark cola colour with thin beige head. Bubbles are present (almost looks like cola in the glass).

Smell - Chocolate aromas are predominant with hints of lemon and caramel sweetness.

Taste - Bittersweet chocolate and roasted coffee flavours. Bitterness is not too overpowering; bittersweetness lingers in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with high amounts of carbonation, yet also some creaminess to this one.

Overall - Very nice mocha porter from Rogue. Was expecting more sweetness, but pleasantly surprised by the bittersweet chocolate flavours (as opposed to semi-sweet or milk chocolate taste). Would certainly buy again.

This is a very nice, classic American porter. Lots of great chocolate and roasted malt in the nose, with hints of coffee. With each sip a delicious roasted malt and chocolate flavor rolls through the mouth and ends with a pleasant crisp bitterness that lingers on the tongue. Can't say it's the best porter I've ever had, but there's certainly little to complain about. Very solid beer, very flavorful, and very drinkable at 5.0% abv.

I have had most of Rogues other offerings and and have enjoyed every one of them, so I am excited to have the Mocha Porter.

Appearance- Pours a mildy hazy dark brown with a light tan, 1 finger head... Dissipates quickly

Smell- Possibly my favorite part of this beer. Dark roasted malts with coffee and chocolate present. Very arousing scents

Taste- Chocolatey malts and roasted barley make themselves extremely apparent. The mocha is present as well. Very tasty beer

Mouthfeel- Light-medium body, appropriate amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite Rogues, if not one of my favorite porters. A well-executed example of the style

12oz. bottle poured into a straight sided pint glass

A- dark, dark brown. No light makes it through this brew. Big, fluffy tan head, and very sticky lacing down the glass. I don't see how a porter could look better.

S- Dark, sweet malt, heavy on the coffee aroma.

T-Roasty, sweet malts, with a coffee finish. Hints of chocolate, but you have to search for them. A tad bitter on the end.

M- Deceptively medium bodied (you'd think it's heavier from the looks of it) Carbonation on the lighter side of medium.

O- A good example of an American porter. I could use a bit more chocolate notes, and a tad less bitterness on the finish, but I'm honestly nit picking. Tasty.
