Upon opening some smoke hovers at the neck. Upon pouring in a nice beer glass it pours a one to one and a half finger head. the color of the head is brownish tan. It retains really well and laces nicely. The body is opaque and jet brownish black. Looks like a nice porter.

It smells of coffee, some hops, and chocolate. the chocolate is kind of a faint subtle smell while some hops come out really nice in the aroma and the coffee is always there throughout the aroma.

the taste is of coffee, hops, and chocolate. Lingering aftertaste is of chocolate and coffee. This tastes really nice. I love the combination of coffee with hops plus the hints of chocolate here and there. Nice tasting porter.

It is very smooth and has a nice mouthfeel. It has the good feel to it that complements the taste that altogether makes it a nice beer.

Overall I really enjoy this beer and drinking it. I love stouts and porters and I drink Guinness extra stout a lot. I enjoy this porter a lot and will definitely buy it again and will maybe buy it regularly just like I buy the guinness stout even though this one is a bit more expensive than the guinness stout. If you like any stout or any porter give this one a try.

12 oz. bottle purchased on recommendation of the beer dude in local store.

Appearance was nice - I like the reddish tints in the dark, compact head that persisted until the end. Regular old pint glass.

Aroma was OK - a little coffee/chocolate/caramel, but I didn't think it much different or better than other beers in the category.

To me, the taste was a disappointment. There was no date of any kind on the bottle, so I don't know if it was fresh or had been in stock a while. The taste seemed pretty generic and reminded me mostly of Guiness. Got the coffee/toffee/chocolate flavors but I wouldn't say it was outstanding. Did not think it had the complexity and mouthfeel of the porters I have tried.

Good, not great IMHO. I'd drink it again, certainly not bad tasting or anything. But I wouldn't go out of my way to find it again.

Appearance: dark brown, subtle brown head, moderate lacing.

Smell: a bit spicy, malty, sublte chocolate.

Taste: cinnamon, brown sugar, malty, spicy, sublt chocolate, hoppy.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied, moderate carbonation, crisp.

Overall: A good beer. The mocha is much more subtle than I expected, but still very drinkable.

Pitch black with a light tan head.

Smells of molasses and blackberries to create an odd irony fruitiness. Ground coffee finds its way in.

Taste is metallic and strangely bitter. Dark fruits and yeast flavors repel each other while coffee additions remain constant. Aftertaste is more unwelcomed bitterness and char.

Medium bodied with smooth even carbonation.

Not in line with most delicious porters.

A - Very dark brown, tan head around 1 finger. Some minor lacing with little retention

S - Rich coffee aroma combines with milk chocolate. Some earthy hops to the finish.

T - Starts out with a nice chocolate and medium malty taste as expected. Solid taste of coffee, solid but not overwhelming.

M - Slick and velvety

O - It is exactly what you'd expect, well executed brew.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a wine goblet.
Dark brown in color, with a rather short head of tan foam.
Aroma-Cocoa and faint coffee note
Taste-Cocoa and black coffee, creamy with an underlying hop presence that leads to a reisinous bitter finish. Would be an excellent match for BBQ'd or grilled meats.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into pint glass.

Appearance; Pours a pitch-black with a two-finger tan head. Good amount of lacing left on the glass as I drink.

Smell: Chocolate nibs, roasty dark malts, coffee.

Taste: Chocolate, coffee, dark malts and sugars, light spices and a milky/creamy attribute to it. Definitely delicious, definitely resembles a mocha.

Mouthfeel: Moderate carbonation with a heavy body, definitely a sipper, but with how good it is I don't know if I can simply sip it!

Overall: An excellent mocha/coffee like beer. My favorite now, Used to be from Sammy Adams Black N Brew, but this one definitely reigns supreme.
