Appearance: Poured clear amber, with a frothy persistent white head.
Aroma: Pale malts upfront, with a lingering bitter hop aroma. No esthers, no diacetyl.
F: Mirrors the aroma in pale malts and hops, but balance leans towards the hops. I thought this beer could be leaning towards a pale ale as far as style is concerned. Pale ale qualities with a slight astringency (husky/grainy).
M: High carbonation, medium bodied, and medium mouthfeel.
O: This was the first time I've had Dead Guy, and I found it to be true to style as far as a hoppier version of a traditional bock, but I didn't get the malt presence that the style calls for. At least not in this pint. I almost thought I was drinking a pale ale which is alright by me.
Serving type: on-tap
