7oz bottle of the 2009 vintage poured into a Duvel tulip. Thanks to yamar68 for this nice extra.
Appearance: Dark brown/black with very little head that quickly becomes just a ring.
Smell: Dark roasted malt, coffee & dark chocolate..
Taste: Bitter dark chocolate and coffee. This is a whole lot of dark roasted malt flavor in this little brew. Definitely has more bitter chocolate notes than other RIS's that I have had. This isn't a bad thing just a noticeable difference.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and clean on the palate.
Overall: A pretty flavor packed RIS, a little more bitterness than I generally prefer but still a pretty solid example of the style.
