2009 7 oz. bottle poured into a tulip. Deep, black body. Small mocha head that dissipates quickly and leaves a smattering of lacing. Looks like a good RIS.
I am totally digging this aroma. I'm sure I will not be able to describe it well, but it is very inviting. Rich roasted malt, light coffee, chocolate, and a hint of whisky.
The taste matches the aroma but brings the bitterness level up a notch. Plenty of roasted malt and excellent flavors to follow including the aforementioned coffee, chocolate, and bourbon.
Not as thick as I would have expected in the mouthfeel, but not a big deal. Excellent RIS, and I highly recommend it.
