2006 vintage in the ceramic bottle with the swing cap.
Pours black, supremely opaque. Topped with a two finger head of dense light brown bubbles. Leaves an oily slick of lace with each sip, and a brownish red tint on your glass. Impressive looking to say the least.
Plenty of molasses in the nose. Toffee, cocoa and almonds as well.
Molasses and burnt sugar up front faintly sweet and quite bitter. Followed by dark baking cocoa with a burnt espresso finish. Sweet malts like dark fruits and a slight citric hop twang on the back end.
Each sip is smooth and velvety. It leaves an oily film in your mouth, further enhancing the velvety feel. Goes down very smoothly for it's big abv. Nicely done, and worth the price of admission for those who wonder.
