Rogue brews and I haven't gotten along all that well, so I figured I'd see what they did with my favorite style. Interesting presentation with the ceramic sorta mini-growler. Poured into my nonic.
A: Bottle encourages a somewhat rough pour, but a good looking brew is revealed. Yellow on the edges of the cup deepening to a nice orange/amber and plenty hazy, with little floaties throughout. Rocky white 2-3 finger head with good retention and fantastic lacing.
S: Big malty front with estery sweetness. Not a huge hope nose revealed in the smell. I detect some pine and floral hints in the back, but really this smells like a malt-dominant brew.
T: Not as sweet in the beginning as the smell suggests, thank goodness. Very nice malt backbone, somewhat sweet but not too much. Hops are mostly pine and resin, and seem somewhat subdued. This may be more due to the balance of the beer though.
MF: Somewhat thin body but enough fizziness to make up for it. Strong warming in the finish, and really the end of the flavor is a bit of alcohol sweetness. Very easy to glug.
D: Pretty subdued IIPA. It's hop dominant, to be sure, but everything seems a little too cautious. My feeling is that a really good IIPA almost has to be a bit over the top, and this one isn't. The balance is really nice, and it's quite easy to drink. But doesn't rate with the big guns.

Got a growler on the way out of Portland, bring it on the plane !
Light orange, clear IPA. Nice 1/2 inch white foamy head poured into my 10 barrel medium side snifter.
Mild bite from the IPA, nice mild grapefruit, hoppy flavor, very pleasant to drunk, even though it is over 9 %.
Mouthfeel seems 'bout right, a little malty goodness when you 'foam' it up in your mouth.
I would drink this every time at the airport, a nice find there , will probably add it in the cart now, from time to time. Drink it !
