12oz bottle politely pours a hazy yellow/amber with an off white head. Aroma hits right away with powerful, fresh piney hops. Lips to glass and tilt back to experience the ensuing extreme bitterness. Thick, buttery mouthful leads to more pine and citrus flavors, with notable alcohol in the finish, followed by fresh grass hop burps.

A fantastic IPA, but value wise, I'm more than satisfied with a 22oz Brutal Bitter for the same price as this 12oz.

Hazy Golden colour with an almost non-existent head. Nothing but hops on the nose. Suddenly a gang of angry hops enter the room. They proceed pommel my taste buds with extreme fury. Distinctive grapefruit flavor is present throughout. Finally they stop letting a surprising, and welcome, burst of malt take over. I expected bitterness coming into this beer, but all I got was the most hop flavor I've ever experienced. Goes down quite smooth for a I2PA. The alcohol is covered very well and is only noticed in the warming effect as the this wonderful liquid goes down my throat.

WOW!! This is one great beer. The instant this beer hits the glass the Cascade hops knocks you to your seat. The cloudy amber color more than invites the holder to consume it's tasty contents. Upon further examination of the label I come to find out this made with Marris Otter..EXCLUSIVELY!! The way an IPA should be made. The bitter sweet taste of citrus surrounds the pallet for near perfection. This one is a hopheads dream. It's a shame it comes in this measly 12 oz. bottle. A Double Duece is surely required for a beer of this greatness.

Had this beer out of the new ceramic bottle and I was very suprised. The beer poured a very light yellow color, much light than any IPA I've had, let alone a DIPA. Had a nice white head that lasted about a third of the glass with very little lacing. The smell was a light scent of hops with a slight amount of malt.

The taste a a very hoppy taste, but as citrusy as I was expecting. Very little malt balance, but not so mush that it was unpleasant to drink. Great hop after taste, like the oils of hops were on your tongue. Mouthfeel was really smooth and carbonation was really good.

A really nice beer from Rogue and the ceramic bottle was COOL! A little pricey, but if you want the bottle it's worth a try.

Got a growler on the way out of Portland, bring it on the plane !

Light orange, clear IPA. Nice 1/2 inch white foamy head poured into my 10 barrel medium side snifter.

Mild bite from the IPA, nice mild grapefruit, hoppy flavor, very pleasant to drunk, even though it is over 9 %.

Mouthfeel seems 'bout right, a little malty goodness when you 'foam' it up in your mouth.

I would drink this every time at the airport, a nice find there , will probably add it in the cart now, from time to time. Drink it !

The appearance of this brew was awesome. A dark amber-orange color with a bubbly head that lasted at a half inch thick, wow. The lacing was amazing. I must say this brew has one of the best aroma's I've ever happened across. The smell mostly hops except for the good dose of caramel malt. Man it smells hoppy. Lots of grassy, citrus, grapefruit and floral esters happening here. Probably the most powerful aroma of all beers I've tried. Kind of smells like raw hops before they are added to the brewpot. If there is malt anywhere in here than I can't find it. A strong grassy flavor hits first followed by a lemon zest. The finish is all bitter hops on the way down. All the hops are well balanced by a strong malty backbone. The aftertaste has sort of a warming effect to it. I don't know what it was but I really enjoyed this brew. I will definitely purchase and drink again.

Slightly cloudy dark tea color, with a bit of foamy head which leaves stringy patches on top, with very little lace. Smell is a sweet flowery hop aroma, with a light honey hint. The flavor is sweet, with a more subtle hop presence than some more harsh IPAs. It is not really less pronounced, just in a different way. Citrus and floral tastes are evident, with a very subtle, natural, almost cane sugar taste. Some malts are burried in there. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth, with a definate sweet very unpronounced syrupy feel. Wouldnt think this was a 10.3% ABV beer.

750 ceramic bottle. A: Very cloudy orange yellow, some puffy white head that goes down pretty quickly with a thin layer of retention. S: Hops, hops, hops. Lots of citrus, pine. T: Malt up front, but the hops quickly take everything over. Alcohol pretty well hidden. M: Pretty full bodied, thick, chewy. D: A really solid DIPA. Much more crisp and refreshing than a lot of others of its kind.

Wow, first of, what a shitload of a bottle. An enormous 75cl Stone bottle. Cool, but not very handy, and very expensive.

Looks great though, and the beer in the glass is deep yellow/orange with small particles of hops(?).

The smell is full of hops, really nice. But not as extreme smell as Hercules IPA or Stone Ruination. Good anyway.

Taste is really, really bitter. Lots of hops and tropical fruits, but also quite sweet, almost caramelly. Nice.

To sum it up, nice, but not worth the price.

Scored a 12pk of these 7oz nibs at the Rogue sale at the back of the brewery at a very reasonable price! Thank you Rogue!
Well since I can easily pour two of these into a large tulip I shall!
Pour results in a surprisingly clear amber, just a hint of cloudy with a very thin head that leaves sticky lacing on the side of glass. carbonation is subdued, the beer is very still with only the occasional small bubble struggling to rise.
Aroma is Dank grassy and floral hops and a hint of pine, time to dive in...
Oh yes, this is a nice DIPA, tons of grapefruit rind, pine, and a nice bitter spice on the end to boot. Malt sweetness is there but only for the backseat ride.
A little slick and chewy, has a long bitter aftertaste.
A very nice take on the style, few DIPA's are this bold, therefore it's a standout!

C. Cloudy
H. Light orange, maybe darkish yellow
N. Very hoppy, hints of floral

Hmmm well I will give this beer the coolest bottle award. I love the fact that this bottle is heavy and has the "Grolsh style" top to it. Ok, enough about the pretty packaging. This was a good Imperial IPA, nothing special definitely not worth the retail price. Strong hoppy hit and nice lingering bitterness. There is good balance between hops and malt. Worth a try if you can find a friend that got this for their birthday! Thanks guys! Score = 4.12

I was approaching this one with a little trepidation, because I thought it would be ridiculously bitter and unbalanced. Fortunately, neither was true. Pours the color of honey with no head and no lacing, which in all fairness, may be the fault of the glass. Aroma is a mouthwatering combo of grapefruit, lemon, and honey. The taste is initially sweet, and then the hops come in and assault the taste buds. Not so much as to overpower the sweetness however. Mouthfeel is rough which seems suitable, and the drinkability, slightly above average. Overall, very similar to Ruination but a little more balanced, and less intense.

pours a very cloudy orange-tan with a fine billowing off white head. this brew is obviously un-filtered. aroma is all hops -- big citrusy pnw hops. the body is very full and smooth. the malts do a better than average job of holding up against the onslaught of hops. this affords for a very balanced and tasty ipa. the hops provide a good deal of bitterness, but are flavorful above all. quite a feather in rogue's cap, which is saying alot. definitely in the top three ipa's of all i've ever tried.

Chilled 12 oz. bottle in an imperial pint glass. The beer poured an amber orange-ish color into the glass with a rapidly dissipating head. It sure looked pretty, but a bit naked without a head. The aroma had hints of hops, but was also pleasantly and slightly sour.

Unfortunately, it was not the beer I had expected it to be. It is sweet and malty, with a complex but sadly subtle hop flavor. Again, the taste was ever so slightly sour, but not in the 'beer gone bad' way. More along the lines of the sensory experience sourness. A slightly hoppy aftertaste, but not particularly strong.

It took me a while to finish this beer, as it is quite heavy, but still dangerously drinkable. Thankfully, the heaviness keeps one from overindulging.

Almost $13 fro this 750 ml bottle which is certainly in the expensive side. Probably due to the heavy ceramic stopper top bottle. The pour was very nice, full three fingered head with a cloudy dark golden color. This beer looks like it has lots of flavor.

The aroma matched the visual, lots of piney hops with bready yeast ackground notes. Really interesting.

The flavor is a nice blend of bitter hops, sweet malt and dried fruit. It doesn't come off as crisp as a typical IPA but it does have a full and complex taste. Well blended would accurately describe this brew. At 9.2%abv and 750 ml, this is a good bottle to share with a friend that enjoys sweeter hoppy beers. One things for sure, your stock is bound to go up with whoever you share this beer with. Got to love Rogues!

This beer rules. I had not heard much about this beer and hadn't seen any reviews when I picked up a couple of bottles. This is just a great IPA. The color is a deep orange with a good thick head. The smell is a little malty but the taste is all fruity hops. The ABV must be high because it warms you right up. Great mouthfeel, very drinkable - just a great beer.

This is one of those beers I will always look for.

Enjoyed this beer with a friend during my annual October barbecue.
The beer poured a nice hazy golden-amber, with a good sized white head, and decent lacing throughout the snifter. The beer looked nice, creamy, and filling.
The aroma straight away was citrusy hops, some pine lurking in the back, notes of tropical fruit and the sweetness of the malt. I don't know the age of my bottle, but the hop aroma was very subdued. It was milder than I was expecting, but good none-the-less.
The taste was very good, the sweet caramel malts leading the charge, with the citrus of the hops cutting in and making a show. Notes of oily pine and grapefruit show up, and the finish was fairly bitter. The alcohol was well hidden, and the feel was creamy and filling.
A very good offering from John and company. The presentation in the ceramic bottle is nice, but the price keeps this great beer a rare treat.
