This is just a different bottling of their American Amber Ale, so I'm only going to review it here. Also note that this Sea Otter bottling is from 2001 only, so any samples you find now may be a little outdated. Burnt amber color, which at first was hard to see without some light. Light tan head, retains impressively well and leaves a good bit of lace. Fresh aroma of spicy, earthy, and slightly estery hops with some grainy malt. An excellent aroma in my opinion. Very spicy hops with a rind-like bitterness in the taste. Balanced to perfection with grain-like malt. A bit of a fruity undertone and a bready finish. A little nutty flavor in there as well, perhaps almond. Medium bodied, and could be more flavorful, but it's still a great amber ale. Rogue has done it again! Another top-notch ale.

I absolutely love the color of this amber with its bright brassy highlights and sturdy hue. It loses points, though, with an unimpressive head of this thin fleeting fizz and a ton of clinging carbonation bubbles.
The nose is malty, nutty, maybe pecans and a bit of grain. There's hints of roast and a bit of tea leaf.
The flavors are more roasted, more nutty, and filled with pecans. The roasted flavor is dry and the malts are filled with barley, tea leaf and grain.
The feel is exceptionally dry but also thin and watery.
This is a good example of the style with all the profile pieces I want in an Amber. My only regret, and it's small, is that the thin watery feel doesn't allow the flavor to truly blossom.
