A- Cloudy burnt orangy brown. Great head and retention. Good lacing.

S- Carmel malts, floral and piney hops.

T- Great balance of strong carmel matls and floral and earthy hops. Dry, bitter finnish with a nice little zing of booze.

M- Medium bodied, slightly chewy and sticky. Great carbonation.

D- Excellent strong ale that blends the finest of ingredients in a perfectly balances way.

This arrived far more pale than expected, orange and somewhat opaque but definitely not the deep mahogany or brown I usually find in this style. Foam and lace were microscopic.

Flavor is where this one comes to the plate, malts supporting but not overpowering the caramel, pine, and alcoholic burn. The smell is strong and sweeter than the taste; the taste is powerful and caramel malts quickly take a backseat to the hops and booze. Great flavors and nicely blended at that.

It looked and felt a little too light, but still a good showing.

At the time of this review, this is #30 on the top American Strong Ale list. Served in a snifter.

Beer is tan / brown and hazy and way way way over carbonated. The head is massive and has some retention power to it. I asked the bartender if this is a problem with the beginning or end of the keg and he replied that the whole keg has been this way. Interesting.

Aroma is sweet and malty with a hint of hops, some sort of floral earthy hop. Smells decent.

Beer is medium to big in body despite the carbonation issues. It tastes like sweet malt and some booze. Interesting beer overall. The flavors seem a little muted to me but overall it is a decent beer. A sipper for sure.
