bomber into beer flute served cold at Izumi Sushi and Grill in Eugene.
A: No head, good clarity, honey colored. A very thing white ring around the glass. Refilled my glass after I finished it, this time more aggressive pour got 2 fingers of white head. The second half of the bottle was much cloudier also.
S: grainy, the soba is present as well a little bit of a yeast smell. Not much hops.
T: bready with just a hint of hops. The buckwheat flavor is there kind of like actually eating soba noodles. A little nutty from the toasted soba, no sweetness, and enough hops to balance but not really shine.
M: medium-light body slightly drying. A little fizz but not much. Good for a lighter drink (when you don't want something really heavy.)
O: Paired well with all the sushi I was eating. Can't say it was worth the $12 I paid for it but I only ever see this beer at Japanese restaurants for about $12 so I would have ended up paying that anyway. Good beer though, want to try the other two soba offerings in the Morimoto line from Rogue.
