Poured from a 22oz bottle into a standard pint glass. Pours a hazy/cloudy golden yellow with about 2 fingers worth of head. Settles down to about half a finger.
Aroma is very innocuous. A lager-esque, malt-like smell is all that floats out of the glass. Undefinable; nothing in particular to note.
Goes down more like a lager than an ale. A mix between a hefeweizen, a pale ale, and your average lager. There is a uniqueness to it, it's nothing I can pinpoint taste-wise, and it's nothing exceptional. Really struck by the lager feel to this 'ale.'
Mouthfeel is less than crisp, but refreshing. Nothing lingering in the aftertaste.
This is a fairly forgettable beer. No doubt unique in it's use of soba, I still can't place it or claim it's especially enjoyable. Not sure when I would drink this, or why I would choose it over other comparable light beers with more pronounced flavors.
That being said, I love watching Chef Morimoto on Iron Chef. Dude's unstoppable with any kind of seafood in his hands. I need to make a res at his resto soon.
