Pours a rich orangey caramel topped by pale peach coloured, frothy head. Lots of sticky lacing.
Lots or caramel, breadiness and malt in the aroma, with hints of rum and oak and brown sugar. The hops add a light touch of grassiness and citrus.
The thing that strikes me at first is how boozy this is for a 9%er, but luckily that fades a little with each sip. Aside from that it's incredibly malty with just enough of a hop kick to keep it from going overboard. It's almost like sucking a Werther's Original and a Menthos at the same time. Lots of toffee, caramel and butterscotch with underpinnings of raisins with an herbal, spiciness from the hops.
Full bodied, borderline chewy mouthfeel leaves the rich taste lingering on the palate for some time leaving an alcohol warmth that sticks with me.
Enjoyable but nothing I'd race back for.
