From bottle to wine glass

Appearance is dark amber almost read, tremendous fluffly head very long lasting. excellent lacing.

aroma is very sweet with just the right piney hop scent and a
touch of floral scent. maybe some caramel.

taste is about the same with a nice bitter finish, the caramel is more prevalent in the taste.

the mouthfeel has light carbonation and the taste of clean water. slightly creamy.

really good drinkability though fairly heavy.

all in all really an excellent beer from rogue. its been a while since i tried the dead guy ale but if i remember this double dead guy is just miles ahead of it.

Stoneware swingtop bottle, as Rogue XS Dead Guy Ale, from Costco, Sacramento. The ordinary Dead Guy Ale is not a favourite of mine, but this one is much better. Mahogany colour. The aroma is okay, but not outstanding. The flavour is excellent, malty and vinous with notes of toffee and caramel, also decent hops. Pleasant warming mouthfeel.

Cloudy dark brownish-yellow. Creamy head. Aroma Is hoppy, smoke, light citrus. Taste is sharp , woody, smoke, light fruit....more apple-pearish than the citrus in the nose. Feel is creamy and lively at the same time. Smooth sipping. A nice beer. Smoother than I remember the regular dead guy. Yeah, baseball is back."

Crowler from Growler Guys. Dark, clear amber with small, tight beige head. Malty aroma, caramelly and sweet. Taste is more big malty flavors, some tannin, a bit dry. Late bitterness.

Let's just say this: Before knowing about this ale. My company did not have a probationary period for employees.

This is an exceptional offering from Rogue. Been aging this in our cellar which is a constant 50-55 degrees since 2009. I believe I got a case of these at the Rogue garage sale in downtown Portland. So, since we are moving to Idaho and on a two week mountain trip, I figured it's time to start opening them on our camp/cabin excursion. Opened in Park City and this is unbelievable still for how old it is. Smell is that of a belgian strong ale and candied sugar. Taste is very good maltiness, candied sugars, lots of vanilla, almond, buttery bread crust and a small amount of grapefruit bitterness on the back end. Luckily I have a couple more of these and will be opening them up and enjoying in glassware at the next camp site around the Tetons!
