Paid about as much as a bottle of good wine for this, well maybe a little less but for some reason that seems a bit much. Anyway, poured with a really cool head, almost guinness like with the way it all foamed up in the glass, left a lingering, very think, creamy head that eventually faded to some nice lacing. Clear copper color at first, then cloudy on the last pour as the sediment mixed in. Not too much smell to speak of, maybe a slight hint of some hoppy notes, nothing floral though. Taste is pretty darned good. Very deep at first and then some sweet and sharp tastes up on the tip of your tongue. A little bit of lingering alcohol and hop notes, maybe a little bit of grain. Mouthfeel is good, very smooth, belies the 9% alcohol. Pretty easy to drink for a higher alcohol content beer.
Overall a great brew, not sure if it was worth the price tag compared to other beers but I definitely enjoyed it. The head was one of the best I have seen out of a bottle in a long time.
