On tap at Mahar's

A- The reason its likely called Yellow Snow. Very yellow. Lacking the typical orange tint of an IPA. Slightly hazy. Thick foamy 2 finger white head.

S- Citrusy, bready and piney... much like a dry-hopped tripel.

T- Very citrusy, but not from the hops. More like coriander and bitter orange peel. Strong piney, dry-hop taste. Much like a Belgian IPA

M- Medium bodied. moderate carbonation.

D- Very pleasing. I'd happily order another.

From old, undated notes. Poured from the bottle.

Murky dark orange color.

Frothy white head; a curtain of lace.

Grapefruit notes in the nose; bitterness lingers.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Taste follows; grapefruit up front & lingering bitterness.

Too unbalanced for me but not a bad brew.

[Original rating 2013-07-19] Hazy gold with a thin white head. Not much aroma, a little citrus, grass, but faint. Taste is bitter up front, hint of sweetness, then bitter finish. I like to think I enjoy bitter beers but this seems unbalanced to me.

Poured into a Rogue "So You Want a Revolution?" tasting glass I picked up: color is dark copper/light amber, head is off white with mainly fine bubbles, head presents 1/4 inch thick in the short pour glass, but still lingers well.

Smell has a bit more malt forward flavor - picking up on the melanoiden with light honey and biscuit notes with good depth, hops seem to be subdued with a mainly herbal, earthy note.

Taste follows the aroma with a malt forward ipa - melanoiden notes of honey and biscut are quite noticeable, the hop balance seems to be subdued but notes of earth, herbal, spice and pine are noted.

Mouthfeel seems to start full with any potential malt sweetness being overtaken by clean fermentation and hop bitterness, lingering presence is strong on the tongue with bitterness and dryness.

Overall a brew that I may have picked up past its prime - I like the malt forward notes but the hops seem a bit undertone or aged with a stronger lingering bitter presence.

One of those that you either love or just think its ok. some piney (spruce) aroma and taste but not overwhelming. nicely hidden alcohol; no bite; spruce tips must be instead of hops. Good ski patrol beer (after hours). light amber color; light feel; ample two finger head
