Rogue Yellow Snow IPA is straight up, unadulterated hop juice, and for that reason, I love it. 650ml bomber from the LCBO, poured into a shaker.
Hazy golden in colour with amber edges, a frothy white head, and lots of lace. Smell is floral hops, perfume, fruity yeast esters, and sweet malt aromas of biscuit, cookie dough, and caramel. Taste is all about the Amarillo hops, imparting lemon, citrus, pink grapefruit, and oranges. Finishes with a piney, resinous, and acidic hop bitterness that sticks to the palate. IBUs are fairly high, with some grassy/herbal elements in the aftertaste. Kind of two dimensional, but I like it. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp and oily through the middle, spicy hop bite precedes a dry and bitter finish that lingers for quite a while. A very satisfying drinker.
This is not the most complex beer, and the malt backbone could use some beefing up. However, the single hop variety produces an impressive range of flavours, and I could probably drink this all night. It seems Rogue can do no wrong.
