Wow, this beer looks like a stout! Huge creamy brown head with great retention. It leaves a film and a fair amount of lacing. Absolutely black and cant see through it. no carbonation.
I smell some roasted caramel malt sweetness with hop bitterness. A little lager yeast. Some chocolate notes (I hope that’s not just my imagination). Vanilla. Something metallic?
The chocolate was definitely not my imagination. It does have that crisp bitter lagery hoppiness.
Touch of licorice. Molasses. Not as burnt/hoppy as a porter or stout. Bit of an aftertaste. Still something metallic.
Mouthfeel is like a porter. Sticky upfront and a little dry in the end. Thin to medium body.
Very easy to drink and I would enjoy it as a session beer.
