A: poured into a tulip which was golden yellow in color with one finger head and good lacing that stuck to the glass.

S: absolutely no hop character to this one, lost ao malt for sure with some bready notes coming through.

T: like the smell it has lots of malts and a bready taste to it.

M: this is light to medium body with very little carbonation. seems like it has sat around for awhile.

D: not impressed with this one, very basic flavors not complex at all. Dissapointed cause rogue makes some decent beers.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on July 3, 2010. It pours a golden-yellow color with about two fingers of fizzy, bubbly white head and lots of lacing. The aroma is an enticing concoction of barley malt and thin hops. The taste is almost a polar opposite with a noted bitter hoppiness and a thinner sweet maltiness. Decent mouthfeel. I love "liner notes" and this one declares the actual latitude and logitude of where the barley and hops were harvested. You can't help but to wonder if the taste would have been different if these ingredients had shifted a couple of degrees. Likeable beer altogether.

A: Pours a hazy gold with an enormous white head. Subtle orange highlights are on display once the beer settles. Overall, this is a moderately attractive ale.

S: Sweet, soothing aromas of spicy malt and ripe orange are present on the nose. As the beer settles and warms, these two aromas blend until they are indistinguishable. I would have liked to see greater depth and a longer separation of scents here.

T: Opens smooth and velvety with notes of roasted nuts, heavy cream, herbs, vanilla, lemon, and navel orange accompanied all the way by a restrained malt spiciness. Finishes in a delicate fashion while displaying spicy malt, orange, and herbal hop notes. Pleasant, but lacks any standout flavor component to make it more memorable.

M: Off-dry medium body that gets slightly stickier before the finish.

O: This is not a terrible effort, but it is not one of Rogue's finest offerings either. In the end, this is a pleasant enough beer, but nothing about it is all that remarkable.

DENSE head. Medium dark malt, medium filtered, with a head that's as white as this BA background and it's like you used too much Palmolive, the head is so soapy and unstoppable.

Smells faint but complex. I guess that Dare malt is so fabulous they had to go and copyright its name, but really all I'm getting is run of the mill light malt node of cereal. The hops are medium green, and thankgod the yeast is super chewy and yeasty because that really ties everything together.

Tastes a bit more adventurous than it smells. Makes no mistake: this is a simple ale that's not supposed to blow your socks off, but it's really well brewed and there's enough going on to keep your attention, make it more or less worth the price of admission. Very hoppy for a blonde, but that's fine since it turns out the malt is more aggressive than the aroma had led me to anticipate.

Pale straw yellow, with a soapy white head. Nice lace.

Not much aroma, but mostly biscuity malts.

Tastes much better. Nice floral, bitter hop bite with a light malt base .

Light body, crisp and clean finishing.

Nice hop bite, but that's about it.

Pours a toasted grain color with a fairly tight off white head that settles inot a light cap. The aroma is quite faint there is a very light bready malt scent, thats about it. The taste is of a light malt with some fruity notes and a subtle grassy bitter hop bite. The feel is moderate with very fizzy carbonation, lightly sweet on the palate and finishes slightly bitter. A nice easy drinking brew. Good balance between the sweet malt and grassy hops. The flavor won't blow you away but you can easily pack away a few of these.

While the whole grow-your-own Rogue venture is an interesting concept, this resulting beer is a bit lackluster. Moderate malt with pleasant grain and some honey sweetness. Not that everything this brewery makes has to be over the top, but here the level of restraint makes for a rather one-dimensional and unengaging beer.

This is a blonde ale? Could have fooled me, it's so hop forward. In a pint glass the beer was a hazy orange color with a small white head and a little bit of lace. Very citrus aroma, a little malt. Big time grapefruit taste, some malt that was hidden by the hops. Not very balanced, not like any blonde I have had, but still a nice beer.

I have to admit that their GYO idea really appeals to me. The beer is a rich amber color, with a touch of haze. Modest white head. The most notable thing about the beer is the intense malt aroma. It's wonderfully complex and appealing. The taste is moderately sweet, with a malt-centric trait. Medium in body, the beer is not as heavy as expected. On the low side in carbonation. The concept is fantastic, and the beer is solidly good...just not great.

Bomber pours a hazy amber body with a medium sized almond hued head. Decent retention and some scattered patchy lacing.

Aroma features fruity apricot esters, pine hops, and some toasty caramel.

Light medium to medium body with crisp carbonation.

Taste is hoppier than expected, with a solid pine and earthy bitterness. Malt presence is bready and toasty caramel, but somewhat restrained. Finishes dry and bitter.

Highly drinkable and reasonably priced.

Appearance - uncaps with a major rush of air. Pouring into a DinkelAcker half-litre, I am greeted with eight to nine fingers of rocky off-white foam. With some patience I am getting the beer into the glass, but I can't help thinking that this may be a waste of time. As the beer goes, it has a coppery honeyed color, some haze to it. Nice-enough looking but these foamers usually are a bad sign.

Aroma - a bit funky but rather non-descript.

Taste - somne of the lower rated reviews state this as very bitter and astringent. That with the runaway head, I have a feeling the bottle is infected. It has that classic acrid, dry and bitter taste. Against my better judgment I take a healthy pull from the glass anyway (hey there's no pathogens in beer, right?), and I am rewarded with the faintest hint of fruitiness/hoppiness in the back but this is very dry, sharp, and unpleasant to me otherwise, and way gassy. I can taste parts of the beer that I think I'd like, but this bomber is a goner.

Mouthfeel - uber-crisp of course, the body has a medium feel and a layer of smoothness that I like.

Drinkability - probably pretty good with an intact bottle. I can't totally bottom out the score, I'm still nipping at the beer as I type, maybe got a third of it down, but I am always disappointed with infected bottles as I can't always find another sample easily. I'll keep my eyes open for this one though and give it another shot.

Hazy, orange color with yellow highlights. Small glass, small white head. Decent lacing and retention, but not much lace left over when it's done.

Pale, grainy malt sweetness, with only a hint of leafy hops. Bready, but not very strong. The flavor is not overly powerful either, with some metallic notes mingling with the citrics, grassy, and pale malt sweetness.

Tinny mouthfeel, good carbonation, with decent heft. Just a hair on the watery side. Slightly bitter, dry finish. The hopping is just on this side of blonde ale. Understated and a little boring.
