Paid $4.99 or so for the 22 oz. bomber...
The beer pours just like a less art-sy Guinness, head retention is limited to 20 minutes, and dissipates down to a ring around the glass, specs of lacing on the glass and the base of the beer has a nice swirl of lacing as well. Pretty standard smell of a "better brews" stout; roasted coffee, oats, malts, and caramel.
The words to best describe the taste are: complementary and well-balanced. Starts off with the smooth creamy head, the blend of coffee-malts-oats, and a the end contains remaining cream on the mouth with a clean/sweet aftertaste, very impressive! Low carbonation, moderate heaviness, and creamy in the mouth, and yes... thumbs up to nominate it as the ideal session stout (at 6.0%), hands down!
Final Thought: You definitely get what you pay for with this bad boy. The use of quality ingredients and precision of detail must be used to implement this world class beer. On-tap please!
