12oz bottle, no freshness date
A 4.25 - thick and black, creamy light brown head hangs around for awhile
S 4.25 - roasty, chocolate, oat, smoke, earth
T 4.25 - roasted barley, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, oats, earthy
M 4.25 - creamy and smooth, fullish body, very balanced, finishes semi-bitter and pretty clean with some slightly chalky dark cocoa lingering
O 4.25 - very impressive oatmeal stout. I don't know why I don't go for more Rogue beers, but for some reason I don't.

Roasty and bitter, but there's not enough depth here for me. Would like some sweetness or something else (vanilla, toffee, hops?) to distinguish this beer. As it warms up, the coffee turns more towards espresso. Wish it were not just a one-note beer.

I probably would never visit this again, although it's perfectly drinkable. There are better stouts for the money (looking at SN Stout)

Bottle to tulip

Big Chocolate from start to finish. Layers of chocolate keep resurfacing throughout the taste. Sweet toasted/ roasted caramel. Moderately acrid and smokey. Chocolate milk, milk chocolate, tootsie roll, and cinnamon all come to mind with this brew. Soft, earthy, mild spicy hops counter balance the malt profile. Nice clean (noble?) hoppy bitterness as well. Dark chocolate/cocoa noted in the finish.

Here's where the beer loses me. It's a thinner bodied and creamy beer. I like the creaminess. The thinness of the beer coupled with the moderate to moderate high carbonation is too much for me, for the style. If the beer had more body and less carbonation I would enjoy this beer much more. All things said, this is a good beer. The beer gets high praise, I think there are others that should get equal marks or higher. Glad I tried it.
