On tap at World of Beer.

A - pitch black with a soft, off white, creamy head

S - roasty, nutty, faint coffee

T - roasted malt, coffee, creamy, a bit of charcoal

M - full bodied, creamy, smooth, low carbonation

This is a nice, easy to drink stout. The nitro tap adds a great mouthfeel and a creamier taste. The roasted malts and traditional stout flavors are on point and balanced. Overall, this was a very enjoyable pint.

A black abyss poured into a glass! Impenetrably black and crowned with a thick, chunky tan head; lacing galore. Rich, roasted malt grain aromas with a light, flowery, nearly citrus-like background scent. Deep roasted malt flavors; charred bread crust; bitter chocolate; soothing combination of hop bitterness with a slight alcohol presence. Rich, smooth mouthfeel; sugary sweet with a touch of dryness.

Big, black, and beautiful! I don't drink too many Rogue beers, but this oatmeal stout packs a lot of sensory delights. Must get more...

Appearance: Dark, just like it should be, and a lovely cappuccino colored head. There was some nice lacing, but it disappeared after a while, but there was always a ring clinging to the glass. Just a delicious looking stout.

Smell: Right up front a lovely blend of roast barley, hop, and chocolate bitterness, followed by bready smoothness and a little tinge of yeast. More great stuff.

Taste: Just fantastic, the bitterness of this beer is done so well, and the oats give that classic smoothness and the roast barley helps you tame that chocolate character. Yet again, more great stuff.

Mouthfeel: This is the only place I have a bone to pick with these guys, the carbonation is a little to forward in my opinion. However, this is easily cured by giving the beer a couple swirls in the glass and allowing it to warm to room temperature. Also, as stated previously, the oats work wonders in the smoothness of this fine stout.

Overall: Maybe my favorite oatmeal stout, just a fantastic beer to have with a desert, or even as a desert by itself. The wide availability of this beer makes it even better, an absolute must have in the stout category. If you haven't had this, grab it the next time you go to the store.

22 oz bottle was poured into a 16 oz nonic.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger mocha head that reduced to a thin layer and left some nice lacing on the glass. It is s pitch black color with no clarity or bubbles seen coming up the glass. Nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Oats, roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, molasses, and some smoke.

Taste: Smokey, ash, bready oats, bittersweet chocolate,

Mouthfeel: Chewy, full bodied, bitter, low carbonation, and a bit smooth.

Overall: Pretty solid oatmeal stout. Smooth and balance of flavors.

Poured from 22oz bomber into pint glass

A - Black in color with a 3 inch tan head, very thick

S - creamy chocolate scent, some roasted malts

T - chocolate up front, malts linger for awhile, a strange but pleasant taste which must be from the oats

M - thick and creamy, a little stickiness. perfect carb

Overall - great oatmeal stout. rogue usually comes through big time with their stouts and porters and this one does not let down.

A: Pours a deep black with browns around the edges and two full finger of dark khaki colored head. The foam is really light and frothy and takes forever to settles. Big lacing left on the glass as it drinks.

S: The nose is malt, wheat, milk chocolate, slight caramel and a touch of vanilla. This beer smells nice.

T: It starts out sweet and fluffy with a good bit of milk chocolate, malt, and caramel. The beer get s a bit roasty in the middle, and the roast and sweet mix well in the finish.

M: Medium bodied beer. It's flavorful, but light on the palate. It's smooth and moves well from first sip to the finish. Nothing lingers for too long after the beer is gone.

O: Nice beer. I'm actually impressed with this beer. The flavors are nice, it drinks well, and it's not too filling. Very drinkable. I'd buy this again if I was in the mood for it.

From a 650 ml bottle (undated) into a snifter.

A-An aggressive pour produces two fingers of short-lived mocha-brown foam. The head drops pretty quickly into a collar. There is a stray finger of lacing left behind. The beer is nearly black and completely opaque.

S-The smell is smooth and well-integrated, but concentrated with roasted malts that verge on charred, but lack any acrid or acidic scents. There is a lightly bitter hop note hiding under the malts.

T-The taste, like the smell, is very smooth, but concentrated and intense. Coffee on the front, with a little kick of bitterness, gives way to smooth, milky chocolate and caramel on the finish. Unlike some oatmeal beers, this one never slips into pure creaminess, but rather, stays on the aggressive side of things.

M-The feel is light to medium body for the style with smooth, but active, carbonation.

O-It is great to finally try this classic of craft beer. For me, the reputation is mostly deserved...you get solid flavors, smooth feel, great drinkability, and no gimmicks. What is most impressive is how smooth and drinkable this beer is without losing either the oatmeal character or the more aggressive, coffee/roasted malt flavors.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A-This beer pours a deep silky black body with a brown creamy head. There carbonation at the rim of the glass is rigorous enough to keep the head going.

S- The smell of dark slightly sweet black malt and some hints of dark chocolate has a faint earthiness to it.

T- The nice flavor or roasted dark malts is smooth and has a slight sour note to it from the oatmeal. The finish has a slight tangy flavor with a soft hint of hop bitterness. Notes of dark roasted coffee come through as it warms.

M-This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a fizz flavor mixed with some silky texture. There is a very faint alcohol warmth in the finish as it warms.

D- This is a very good stout, which focuses on the malts and the hops are just for support. Very smooth and nice to drink but it still has good complexity and character.

Pours deep deep black with a big tan ice cream head. Smell is nice maltiness, slight copper, and bitter chocolate. Taste follows with really roasty malts and some slight coffee. Bitter chocolate on the finish. Good unusually noticable hop bite on the finish, not overwhelming, but more pronounced than you find in most stouts (excluding imperial stouts). A great brew, but not one for beginners, very complex, I like it. great beer. Pacman rules.
