In Maryland for one night of business, so I figured I'd better buy and review something that I couldn't find in KC - and Rogue was it? In Maryland? Yep. Also, I'm drinking it from a plastic hotel cup, so take anything in the post below with a grain of salt.
Frothy, creamy tan head caps a pretty reddish beer - almost like an Irish ale.
Strong vegetative/herbal hoppiness with this one - big in the nose.
Enjoying this one because it's big both in its hops and with a steady bit of maltiness and a bit of spice to close - almost comes across as a light-hearted look at a barleywine.
Sticky, prickly on the tongue, with light carbonation.
Tasty and a different take on highly hoppy ale without getting into IPA territory.

BA says this comes out in the Summer, but I don't see any date any where. Well, so far so good from what I smelled and tasted. I'll proceed.
Into a pint glass.
A: ruddy orange to brown colored body with a one and a half fingered white foamy head that concaves a bit in the center and leaves some thick clingy lacing
S: caramel malts up front, some honey and pine and citrus coming in on the back end
T: mainly sweet through the strong caramel and honey notes, but the aftertaste is a combined orange/tangerine/caramel sweetness, sweet dry sticky finish
M: medium, tries to show a sessionable quality but somehow I seem to want to sip this more, carbonation runs kinda smooth for an APA, but still good
O: this just might really be a Summer beer as I can some refreshing aspects that seem to have thickened up as I don't get as many bitter hops as I was hoping for, however, I find it interesting that this held up to being not that bad. I wouldn't mind having this fresh.
