A: A hazy copper color with a thin off-white head that laces the glass.

S: Toasted caramel malt with a touch of floral hop.

T: A nice sweet caramel and toasted malt flavor with some floral hop and almost pineapple or tropical fruity esters. Bitter and a bit dry in the finish.

M: Medium body with good smooth carbonation. Good feel to it.

O: A quality pale ale. I really like the flavors in the beer. Sweet and fruity, but balanced out by the bitterness from the hop.

Poured from a bottle into a tumbler pint, the beer is a bright orange-brown coloring that is hazy to the point of being opaque. Only a sparse film on the surface, with a slight ring around the glass. The aromas are rich and sweet toffee, with a slight citrusy highlight and a subtle, resiny hopping. Flavors are tangy right off the bat, with a borderline sour malt profile. The hops become much more spicy, with a sharp peppering character, and there is an overall roasty taste that comes forward at the end of the palate. The beer has very forward and direct flavors riding a midbody feel. The aftertaste has a touch of citrus to compliment the tangy sweet malt flavor. The finish is quick, and the hops stay behind to give a slightly astringent, drying feel.

A- Pours a burnt orange with a white head. Lacing was spectacular, reminiscent of whipped cream!

S- Honey, Caramel, Juicy Fruits (Orange Peel, Grapefruit, Granny Smith Apple and a little Pear), Spicy Notes (Hint of Black Pepper and Cardamom). This beer smells SO GOOD and Im usually not big on smell.

T- It has a good hop bite in the beginning followed by a sweet malty caramel finish. There are tastes of clover honey, citrus fruits that have been over ripened (in a good way, thus the juicy characteristics), some nuttiness, as well as some bready qualities. The mouth feel was light to medium. This is a good pale ale!

Food Pairing- I had this with some sweet jalapeno and thai curry wings along with some seasoned potato wedges...it was a REAL GOOD match. This would also be good with sushi...sushi dabbed with some wasabi and soy.

I was pretty surprised to see the score this beer got, an 85? Are you guys kidding me?!? My favorite beer is Rogue Dead Guy Ale but this actually might replace it; if not, it comes a close second. DRINK THIS!

A: Pours a deep, hazy burnt orange color. Two fingers of reddish-orange foam bubble up with a dense, frothy texture. Retention is good, and some nice speckling of lace sticks to the glass.

S: Toasty and moderately sweet caramel malt is prominent up front. Earthy, fruity, and spicy/herbal hop notes feature reasonably prominently. Light tartness is also apparent. A bit of woody/resiny and mineral character is also evident in the background.

T: Moderately toasty and fairly sweet up front, with some medium caramel notes. Hop bitterness builds gradually but eventually becomes fairly strong into the finish. Hop flavors are fruity (preserved apricots?), resiny, and earthy, with some mild citric (orange) notes. An unusual hop profile. Light fruity and mineral notes are detectable.

M: Medium-full body. Carbonation is medium. A slowly-developing bitter dryness lasts a while into the finish.

D: An interesting, fairly tasty pale ale from Rogue. All the flavors don't fit perfectly well together, and the aftertaste lingers almost to the point of being overdone. However, this has an interesting hop presence overall, and it's worth a try.

Wow, this thing is a bomber in every sense of the word. It is thick. There is a tremendous amount of material suspended in it, making it look like apple cider with a nice head.

The APA taste is as it should be, over the top. It is perhaps TOO complex, but, no, I don't want to ding it for anything except maybe the somewhat harsh mouthfeel.

I like this a lot and hope to buy it again, and I want to savor the one I have.
