Appearance: Pitchblack, about as dark as a beer comes. I poured it straight down the middle, and there was very little head that appeared at the top, but what did appear was dark, cappuccino color.
Smell: An incredible aroma of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, roasted barley, and even a little alcohol. This stout is certainly living up to its name at this point.
Taste: A huge hit of chocolate and roast barley bitterness up front, then a nice smooth milk chocolate flavor that runs in with the lingering bitterness. Not overly sweet though, a lot of bitterness coming from different places, and incredible chocolate complexity.
Mouthfeel: A nice level of carbonation, not flat by any means, and a nice smoothness on the finish. The bitterness provides the bite, not the carbonation.
Overall: Many of the best chocolate stouts seem to be complex stouts with chocolate added to them. This one showcases a very unique complexity on the chocolate front as well. There is a very nice bitterness bite at first, then a smooth milk chocolate that lingers through the finish. One of my favorite stouts I have ever had, and something I would recommend to anyone looking for a very chocolatey and complex stout.

750ml bottle at 41 F poured into a pair of large chalices. Surprisingly, I can't find a bottle code or date
Pours black, not much head -- just a light brown ring. Not much carbonation. Looks thick. Smell is chocolate and black licorice, slightly sweet.
Taste is more of the smell. Chocolate and black licorice, Something tealike, much more coffee. Nice sweetness.
Mouthfeel is thick but not heavy, slight grit. Overall, very tasty.
Belatedly: Vanilla. Definitely some vanilla. Maybe it came out more as it warmed.
