A: Poured out a muddy brown color. Mild head from the poor that disappears very quickly. The head was a off white color which was gone within 10/15 seconds.

S: Aromas of bread and biscuit, with some major tones of carame. There is a faint scent of cherry at the end.

T: Flavors of up front citrus and cherries, followed up by some bread and caramel.

M: Fair amount of carbonation, very smooth i thought.

O: I dig this, it is essentially a nice creaminess with some sour cherry aspects.

Not sure why the rip on this beer.

It's a very ripe black cherry flavor rather than sour. Excellent malt backbone. Bread, chocolate notes at the end. Significantly maltier than other fruit cherry beers I.e Sam smith, New glarus, etc.

Very drinkable if you like fruit beers. If you don't then why diss it?

Well made and the quality malt profile makes this beer.

Still on shelves at Joseph's, it's not out of date according to the bottle.

It's a pretty orange-brown with some fire in it, translucent due solely to being fairly dark. The tan head starts off at half a finger and shows fair retention, though lacing actually ends up sticking very well.
A mix of sweet and tart on the nose, it offers caramel and brown sugar along with something like Michigan cherries. It's a bit earthy with something like kitchen spices, fairly nondescript. There seems to be an odd note to the grains or malts, difficult to describe.
Cherries are up front along with caramel. The malts are also a little bready, and some woody sort of something comes out with it. I'm not really getting much of the yeast, though a bit of something like clove peeks through. Overall, the flavor's a little subdued, and it seems almost to be all over the place and not meshing especially well.
The medium body leans toward full. It doesn't have much depth and seems to fade off at the end of every sip. It's got moderate crispness and is pretty smooth. It does lack the character that makes the great Belgians what they are. The end dries up a little with some acidic sort of character.

Review from old notes, drank fresh. 22 oz bottle pours a reddish, copper color with a fine-bubbled tan head. Decent lacing, average retention.

Signature Pacman yeast pervades the nose along with an equally identifiable smooth maltiness. Light hint of cherries...pretty faint overall but Id like to think I could identify this as a Rogue beer blinded.

Taste has more cherries than the nose would indicate. Base beer seems like a basic brown ale but showcases the cherries pretty well. This is one of the better offerings from Rogue, I rather liked this one.

The first thing that I noticed was the head. It had a big bubble rice crispy treat head that quickly vanished (not the "dense creamy head" advertised on the bottle.) leaving behind a funky nose that smelled of grandma's stale cherry potpourri at the bottom of a cardboard box. While some have described it as having a sweet malt taste my bottle was mostly the Montmorency cherries which I believe also contributed the the very cloudy appearance. The one thing that I can say that I enjoyed a little with this beer was the mouthfeel. While I was expecting a heavier mouthfeel the medium weight was okay with me.

Beer should be enjoyable. Maybe to someone this would be but not to me. Generally I am easy to please and it is rare than I come across a craft beer that doesn't have some appeal to me. This however had very little if any.

If I were to revamp this beer the the first thing that I would do is cut back on the cherries. Secondly, I'd go ahead and try to make it darker. With the cloudy appearance you might as well. Thirdly, I'd fix that head somehow. It was most disappointing.

Overall rating on this beer is a 2.5 in my book.

Poured from 22 oz bottle into shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a murky mahogany with a thin light tan head that quickly dissipates.
S: Bready yeast, light dried fruit, cherries, and sweet malt.
T: Tart cherries, sweet caramel malt, and a fresh yeast note.
M: Light body. Softly sweet.
D: Meh. Not a ton here...coulda been better.

S: There really isn't that strong of a smell. Kind of smells sweet and sugary.

T: Sweet and tart cherries with a hint of brown sugar

M: Light and smooth.

O: I was expecting more.... but its a decent beer.
