"Locker Stock" Tap selection at the Addison Flying Saucer-No longer available, selection has changed.

A- Cold hazed, golden color. Nice lacing.

S- Nice. Malt has a nut and bready quality. Slight herbal hop aroma.

T&M- Very balanced brew as the herbal hop gives a slight lemon zest to a full malt taste. Very bready and smooth. Slight grain and yeast notes. Ends somewhat dry.

D- Nice lager. Kicks all kinda Euro Brew A$$. I hope they bring this back here soon.

S: Yeasty funk and malt .

T: A nice blend of yeast, malts and hops.

M: Kind of silky with ample carbonation.

O. I Think I have a new favorite lager.

22 oz bomber poured into a pilsner glass. Poured a beautiful golden color with slight haze and a huge pure white head. Tiny bubbles continue streaming from the bottom of the glass. Looks like a glass of champagne. Great smell, slight hop. Tastes clean and very refreshing, slightly hop bite, good malt character. Has a characteristic rogue sweet flavor present in all their lager styles. Very good, very tasty. If only Miller could get this recipe.

Pint at the Rogue Pub in Newport dock.
In appearance it looks like typical lager , a good one, but at closer inspection the gold colour is more deep and solid than any I have seen.
First thing I noticed is that the "nose" of this lager is slightly stronger in the maltiness than I expected..but of course thgere is plenty evidence of the hops.
Great tasting lager, not too thin like many if its ilk..very malty to start..sweet and rather thick, then a great floral hoppiness takes over as the beer leaves the mouth on its journey down the throat.
Very acceptable on the palate..very smooth.
A very drinkable beer..I had three last night at the pub..that was after I had finished off a pint of the doppelbock and the chocolate stout.

Poured a 22oz. bomber into a tankard.

A: Pours cloudy golden with a tall, fluffy, and tasty white head. However, the head eventually disappears completely, giving the appearance of apple juice.

S: Smells fairly malty with a slight scent of hops.

T and M: This is a well-balanced, well-carbonated lager. It is very flavorful and finishes clean and sweet.

D: Very drinkable.

Highly recommended.

Poured very cold from the bottle. This lager has a dark gold colour to it, much darker than most lagers. It is also cloudy, similar to a hefeweizen in appearance. The head was white and foamy, like most lagers and didn't last long. The smell sweet and fruity, like a sweet apple. The taste is not as sweet as the smell leads on and is very crisp and refreshing. It is less bitter than most lagers and has an apple-ish finish. All-in-all a slightly different, but great lager from Rogue.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely... and have numerous times. One of my favourite American lagers.

Appearance - Clear and golden with solid head retention and lots of sticky lace.

Smell - Pale, doughy malts, a bit hay-like. Subtly sweet.

Taste/mouthfeel - Bready sweetness, a bit of apple or pear and a hint of citrus. Moderate hop bitterness, though the finish is very clean; the aftertaste leaves the palate pretty quickly. Light-bodied and crisp; highly drinkable stuff. A great session lager with plenty of flavor.

Light to medium gold with a one finger white head which stayed throughout and left excellent lacing.

Smelled malty and grassy, very clean.

Tasted of light malt and a hint of citrus. Nice and refreshing.

Mouthfeel was really nice. Very crisp and satisfying, with a light body and perfect amount of carbonation.

I was really impressed by this beer. A great choice in these warm weather months. Wish it came in a six pack but I'll certainly come back to this one again anyways.

P: 1PT.6 FL.OZ Brown Bottle

A: Light pale yellow pour with a whiter foamy two finger head that stayed around for a long time until it reduced to a slight cover that stayed until done with sporadic lacing.

S: Grainy with a bit of sweet grapefruit pith and mild pine finish

T: A bit of bite at the tongue of hops that quickly fades with a pronounced and slightly sweet malt and floral tones.

M: A bit thin and carbonated nip to the tongue that settles to involve the entire palate and then leaves with a slight sweet and dry and very pleasant aftertaste that really lingers.

D: I will be looking for this again, as it is a great session beer that is refreshing, especially in the summer heat.

I bought this because i was intrigued by the label "irish style lager", i never knew that the irish made lagers, or were known for it anyway.

Poured into my Pilsener Glass from 22 oz. bomber.

A- Very pale golden straw color with not too much visible carbonation, and a very thin head. Not much lacing either.

S - I got a lot of apples, and a bit of biscuit.

T - slightly tart, yet clean and crisp. hops are extremely subtle. a bit sweet, kind of tastes like bitter apple cider, finishes dry but leaves a bready/yeast aftertaste. Smooth and only mild hop bitterness.

mf - perfect thirst quencher, very crisp however less carbonation than i excpected/hoped for.

D - very very high, perfect session, nothing too out of the ordinary, just a well made euro lager w/ a touch more sweetness than usual.

Don't know why it's taken me so long to try this beer. All of Rogue's Lagers are terrific. Pours an ideal clear, crisp, sparkling golden-straw, with a stark white, dense head retention that laced well. Smells strong with pale malts for a lager with great apple, pear, and mago aromas. Spiced with English hops for an earthy and lightly grainy note. Aromas transition to flavors really well, throw in a solid bready, yeasty flavor with a new honey-like sweetness. Finishes mostly clean and crisp with light hop drying in the end. A great lager with finess and courage. All of Rogue's lagers are among the best.

Bought this one at Trader Joe's. Probably should be unretired. The bottle is painted with a new picture and logo. TJs has plenty of these in stock ready for St Patty's Day.

Poured into a pilsner glass with a nice two finger, white head that leaves small sheets of lace. There is a good deal of carbonation and rising bubbles. The color is straw color with light orange tints coming through. The smell is mostly of apples and the taste is very similar. The taste is a tart apple flavor that is very well balanced with hops making it very smooth and very drinkable. The body is fairly light, but, the taste is different from other lagers. Another good one from Rogue.

Im reviewing this beer purely within the confines of a "Euro Pale Lager". Its not my favorite style, but this is a great brewery so its worth a shot.

Pours a pale gold with a bit of haze, Im guessing this is unpasteurized? The patchy head sticks around a while leaving a few trails of lace on the glass. The aroma is sweet with a doughy, warm bread character. A pleasant herbaceous hop flavor makes itself known immediately in the first sip but quickly gives way to a glut of malt flavor. Dready, crackery, even vanilla notes comes to mind. The finish is malty, mildly bitter and long. The mouthfeel is softly carbonated for the style and light bodied.

A very decent representation of the style. Plenty of malt depth and even some hop balance. Worth a try if you like lagers. Beats Harp hands down IMO.

I poured this beer from a 22oz. bottle into a liter size mug. It pours golden brown with a nice carbonation to it. It has a nice head that doesn't linger too long. Aroma is nothing to write home about, but once the beer is in your mouth, the feel is incredibly smooth and refreshing.

To describe the beer in alternate terms, it feels like a summer drive across the Midwest with the windows open.

It finishes smooth, and on the swallow I tasted some light barley notes with a very slight toasted-hop finish. A well-balanced beer, with some slightly caramelized malt flavors prevailing.

Overall a very good beer, think Harp, but less harsh and with more flavors abounding.

Lovely straw colour--nice drinkable crispness--pleasant finish--very palatable mouthfeel.

The Rogue guys really brewed a pleasant session 'pils-type' lager here--great bottle design.

The touch of wheat adds a nice bit of sharpness to the barley malt.

Just got a fresh 650ml bottle.
Appearance- Slight coppery gold, white head with little retention.

Smell- Malty, with a slight citrus/herbal hop note. Maybe some nuttiness?

Taste- Malty, slighty hoppy, wheat sweet. Probably my favorite wheat style beer. Some yeast and nut as it finishes.

Mouthfeel- Crisp and clean, very nice.

Drinkability- Very nice session beer. Nothing exceptional and nothing objectionable.

On draft at Smith's

A: Golden straw color. Puffy white head.

S: Butter biscuits, lightly roasted nuts, mild hops.

T: Lightly toasted cereal grains, semi sweet notes with a little hop bitter bite

M: Not overly carbonated or waterly like many lagers. Medium bodied and smooth.

D: Very drinkable and refreshing. Top notch lager.

Pours out a orange-brown color with a modest head, and quite a bit of cloudy haze. Very nice bready aroma, lightly toasted, lightly biscuity. Good emphasis on toasted malt character in the flavor, though there's not much more to say about it: just good, clean malt. Fairly bitter with a nice floral noble hop flavor. Neutral texture, moderate carbonation and body.

A darned good lager, I'd say. I'm not sure what's Irish about it, but it's clean and tasty.

Presentation: 22 oz bomber with no freshness date, brewed for the Kells Pubs in Portland, OR.

Appearance: A dull golden hue with a fine clarity hold a good lacing effect that draws rings down the glass here and there.

Smell: Clean malty aroma with light hints of biscuity and nutty grain, touch of herbal hop in the back but the malt is the star.

Taste: Some hoppiness upfront as the maltiness comes in layer by layer of pale biscuity complexity. Hop stay around with an ample bitterness and lightly herbal flavour, a small note of yeast is there but does not distract the palate too much. Lingers long with lightly sweet grain flavours as well as dry suggestions of bread crust.

Notes: A firm but raw lager, flavourful and rich. Coming from and ale brewery this is a damn good beer, I’d pick this over most pale lager of this sort.

I have had this a few times before but haven't reviewed it yet, so here it goes. 22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a . The aroma is sweet malt, freshly cut hay and grassy malt. The taste is extremely crisp and refreshing, with just enough flavor to keep me interested. This is a perfect session beer for me, and I would drink more often if it wasn't so damn expensive ($5-$6 for a bomber around here). Overall, Rogue Kells Irish Style Lager is an extremely quaffable brew and definitely one of my favorite lagers out there. Recommended.

Pours a dirty orange with an off white head - slight retention.

Smells of orange, malt, wheat, and clover.

Tastes of tart peach, acidic orange balanced by a sweet honey taste. Finishes crisp and clean with a hint of apple-wood. A very nice distinct lager.

A: Cloudy blonde with two fingers of white head, good retention and lacing.
S: Not too potent, floral, a hint of hops, grassy.
T: Sweet, fruity, malty, light citrus, lemon, light bitterness.
M: Smooth, light, well-balanced, refreshing.
D: Both Rogue and lagers are hit-or-miss with me. I think they pulled this one off well though.

Poured a light straw color with a white head that stayed for a bit and left decent lacing.

Smells were malty goodness, hops of citrus and herbal notes.

The taste hit the spot. Well-balanced between the cracker like malt and the crisp hop character. Enough carbonation to keep it all in check. Mouthfeel was lighter, but enough.

Too bad its $5 a bottle. That seems to be the beer's only downside. But, price is not a factor for review. So its a great beer!

Pours with a nice sized bright white head over a cloudy, pale golden body, with some carbonation flowing up. Touch of foamy lacing.

Aromas are fairly earthy and grainy - whole wheat bread. Light hops in the aroma.

Fairly creamy on the palate, with light bitter lemon, metallic tanginess, and naval oranges. Very smooth mouthfeel, and quite rich for the style, with a low carbonation level.

Drinkability is very good on this one - very tasty, rich (relative), and creamy for the style.

Poured into Monchshof half liter mug from the bomber, color is birght gold/pale straw, nicely effervescent, almost dense looking from the wheat; head presents 2" thick then dissipates but clings very nicely.

Smell is grassy, vegetal, lighter pilsen notes, subdued notes and scents but well done.

Taste is refereshing, great mix of pilsen malt flavors, some bread and wheat notes; light crispness (acid malt?), and great hop balance

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and flavorful, pilsen, wheat and acid malts create unique texture with a more crisp and biting mouthfeel than most euro pale lagers - sets this beer apart.

Overall, very well done, exceptionally tasty lager style beer with some great malt alternatives to provide unique flavor and mouthfeel.
