Watch out where the huskies go, don't you eat the yellow snow...
A light yellow pour with a good size head. It had a semi floral smell, nothing spectacular. I didn't care much for the taste I was upset with the lack of balance that rogue usually exceeds in. I like hoppy, but this was too much.

Pours a orange/amber color with a fluffy 1 finger head. Not much lace action happening.

Smells of a citrusy hop aroma & sweet caramel malt notes. Don't get much of any juniper.

Sweet maltiness up front, bisquity/bready, some hop bitterness, herbal, medicinal, spicy, dry lingering finish. Quite a bit going on actually.

Medium bodied, creamy, dry.

A 22 oz bottle not a chore at all. I'd gladly have again.

Interesting brew from Rogue. What else is new? Rogue is typically hit or miss for me. Although this one is somewhere in the middle.

Juniper Pale Ale | on-tap | 5.3% ABV | 2010

Brewer: Rogue Brewery / Brewer's on the Bay
Style: Herbed / Spiced Beer
Glass: Pint

Appearance:
Lemony orange amber with a lackluster head.

Aroma:
Juniper berries of course, with some additional citrus backing. Earthy, spicy tones.

Taste:
There's a dry, biscuity malt base with soft bitter hops. The finish is dry, bitter and lemony.

Mouthfeel:
Medium bodied with a dry mouthfeel and decent carbonation.

Harmony:
Interesting but not that great.

Would I get it again?:
No

Appearance: Pours a dull gold with a bit of chill haze. A creamy, off-white head starts strong and stays that way.

Smell: I pick up on dry grains, a touch of hops, and juniper berries. Has a fairly weak aroma compared to other Rogue brews.

Taste: Has a good balance between the malt and hops. The hop profile is quite constrained considering the brewer. The juniper berries are way in the background...good idea.

Mouthfeel: Fairly thin mouthfeel, with a crisp, dry finish. I think the addition of juniper berries add a nice dryness.

Drinkability: Pretty high considering the spice flavor is very laid back. The good balance and dry finish make it an easy-drinking brew.

While not one of Rogue's best brews, it is an interesting pale ale.

orangey-tinted pale ale appearance as expected...healthy head that settles into a thick ring...little lacing.

really gotta stick my nose in the tulip to get the hops. very stealthy. but another big whiff and i catch that minty/herbal oiliness i expect to taste. no juniper/gin smell that i can tell.

well, to tell the truth, i expected a really biting juniper/hop fusion but this at first taste is like a british pale...refreshing, simple...there is more going on. again, the stealthiness is not so much intriguing as it is annoying. very clean and crisp mouthfeel. quite drinkable alone or paired with almost anything (i imagine). but let me take another taste and see what reveals itself without effort on my part....finally a HINT of juniper in the finish...i think...malts in this really make the sweetness of this pale stand out. interesting but nothing really special. glad i bought the 12 oz bottle...

just doesn't seem like it can be called an 'extreme' beer.

An orange pour with a medium white head. The smell nicely hoppy and had a mellow fruit sweetness....berries and maybe some apricot as well. The taste had a decent combintaion of hops and fruitiness giving it nice balance. Fruitiness is present up front and then becomes more dry, malty towards the finish. Smooth mouthfeel with a semidry finish. Decent drinkability. Not one of my faves.

A: Pours a cloudy, golden orange color with a moderate head that dissipates into a thin layer of foam.

S: Subtle nose doesn't track with that of a typical pale ale. Perhaps the addition of juniper berries subjugates the aroma of hops.

T: Opens exceptionally dry and bitter, with a bright effervescence throughout. Finishes with a juniper beery bite that lingers. Lacks a noticeable malt foundation and any interplay with hops. Not entirely satisfying.

M: Well carbonated with an almost champagne-like mouthfeel.

D: Not familiar with the Herbed/Spiced Beer style, but certainly not representative of what I'm looking for in a Pale Ale. Mediocre at best.

A decent flavored pale ale, but nothing to write home about.

Pours a medium gold/copper in color, slightly hazy with notable carbonation. Has a thick fizzy white head that receded into a thin cap halfway through the pint. Nose is quite hoppy, lots of floral aromatics. Taste is also hoppy with a thick oily malt body. The juniper isnt very noticable, slightly spicy in the aftertaste but I'm thinking the hops really overtook the flavor overall.

Slàinte!

As you can guess from the name, Yellow Snow is golden in color. Unfortunately, it also smells a bit like its namesake. The taste is similar to the scent, but better, and the advertised juniper berries are faintly noticeable on the palate. Not a terrible beer, but not up to Rogue's standards. I had trouble finishing the 1 pint 6 oz bottle. All in all, a bit disappointing.

According to the bottle, this came from the 2002 batch, so it may have been sitting on a shelf for too long, explaining the bit of funkiness. I'll certainly give it another chance.

This was one I had heard about and never had the opportunity to buy, so when I saw a 1pt.9.6oz. bottle of the Yellow Snow, I had ot go for it. It poured copper-orange with a large white foamy head, which stuck around. It had the aroma of honey and malts, mild hoppiness, virtually nothing else. The taste was the same, lots of sweetness, malts and mild floral hops and yeasts. It was smooth and crisp, but a bomber of this was almost too much to drink by onesself. At the very least it was very interesting, and I once again applaud Rogue for branching out and trying something I hadn't seen before, and haven't seen yet.
