On tap @ the Chatoe Rogue Tasting Room (Independence, OR) on 9/3/11. Served in a pint glass. This is the most recent effort from their on-site Chatoe Rogue Farmstead Nano Brewery.
Pours a crystal clear gold, with a 1/2 finger of smooth bright-white head. This retains with a thin frothiness, leaving back a decent amount of light spotty lacing that hangs a bit down the sides of the glass. The aroma smells grassy (and maybe even a touch spicy), with an underlying tangy mix of fruit and sugary malt. This is a little heavy on the sweetness at times in the nose.
The taste has a solid base to it of sugars and doughy bread up front, which mingles with a flush of soft ripe fruitiness. There is a light and grassy feeling citric bitterness here that tries to pull the sweetness back a bit and finishes this dry with a touch of lingering pith that sticks to the palate a bit. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied; with a nice mellow creaminess upon first sip that then firms up some and lays on the tongue with some crispness. The ABV wasn’t listed for this but I’d guess that it’s around the 5% range.
This was decent but that mix of fruit and malt just came on a bit too much at times despite the efforts of the hop profile to try and add crispness and restraint to this. I think that I maybe would have enjoyed this in a smaller quantity, as I got bored with it about half way through this pint.
