Lively dark ruby red topped by a frantic beige head that settles down quickly. Strong aroma that is more fierce than satisfying: overspiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, and subtle vanilla. Flavors of cooked pumpkin, burnt pie crust, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, acidic vanilla, mild spicy hop presence towards the finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Prickly feeling. I expect better from Rogue. The beer could use less emphasis on the spices and bring in a heftier, creamier body. Diggin' the cooked pumpkins, the vanilla, and the hops but the ginger and clove could be tossed to the side.

A: Head is tan to off white and is considerable. Deep pumpkin color with dark brown tones.

S: Cinnamon, Pumpkin, Nutmeg, Cloves, Anise, Orange, Vanilla, Chinese Five Spice.

T: Roasted pumpkin pie. IF Pumpkin Pie were a beverage this would be it. I would say it is missing whipped cream... but it almost has that quality as well. Full marks. Roasted and dry, this beer is fantastic. Pumpkin really shines as a part of the beer's flavor profile instead of just being an add on flavor.

M: Light to Medium bodied. Fantastic carbonation.

O: It is July. It feels like early October in my mouth. Fantastic. I don't normally agree with the Rogue beers... but this one is heads and tails above the rest. Truly a treat to drink.

A - Dark amber, moderate lacing, inch of froth

S - Bland malt, hops, a little pumpkin

T - Weak pumpkin and flavor overall

M - Medium bodied and carbonated

O - Pumpkin is a really hard beer to do well and there are many many more misses than hits.
